I. UPGRADING INSTRUCTIONS
==============================================================
UPGRADING:
Please read the following if you are upgrading from a
version of Intellisync Lite that is prior to the 3.0 release AND
you have mapped PC application fields to virtual fields in
the Note field of either the Date Book, or To Do List
application.
Differences between the new and old field mapping schemes
cause conflicts during the FIRST synchronization with the
Palm OS Date Book and To Do List applications, if PC application
fields were mapped to virtual fields in the Palm OS Note field.
When such a conflict arises, a Conflict Resolution dialog box
is displayed for the Date Book and To Do List sections. When
the Conflict Resolution dialog box is displayed, check for:
1. Valid data on one side (PC application or Palm
handheld) conflicting with blank data on the other side
To resolve this:
a. Highlight the valid data and select Update.
2. Valid data on both sides (i.e., values are presented as
conflicting for a particular field, but you want to
retain both values)
To resolve this:
a. Cancel the synchronization.
b. Adjust field mapping in the Intellisync Lite Field
Mapping dialog.
c. Run a synchronization.
As an alternate solution, you can "hard" reset your
handheld before you first synchronize with this latest
version. By removing all handheld data, you avoid all
conflicts.
REINSTALLING:
We recommend that you do not reinstall version 4.00.00
without uninstalling first. Installing this version
over itself may result in certain Help files not being
accessible.
INTELLISYNC ANYWHERE:
If you are using one of Pumatech's Intellisync Anywhere products,
you must change your Palm OS handheld's name to a single word
in order for this release to work properly with Intellisync
Anywhere. This new name can not contain any punctuation,
spaces, International characters, or symbols.
You will not be able to synchronize with Palm Desktop
if you have Intellisync Anywhere for Exchange, and
Intellisync Lite on the same PC.
==============================================================
III. INFORMATION ON SPECIFIC PC APPLICATIONS/HARDWARE
==============================================================
A. Windows NTFS Compressed Drives
Intellisync Lite is not supported on Windows NTFS compressed
drives.
--------------------------------------------------------------
B. HotSync Manager
1. Network HotSync
Intellisync Lite does not support Palm's Network HotSync
Manager for synchronization over a network.
2. SerialSync.txt file
HotSync version 3.0.3 and higher may create copies of
a text file named SerialSync.txt during synchronizations.
This file is harmless and can be removed from anywhere
it appears.
3. HotSync Timeouts
If you experience time-out issues during a
synchronization, we suggest you visit Palm's website at
http://www.palm.com/support/helpnotes/hotsync
for more information on working around time-outs.
4. HotSync doesn't run
If you hit the HotSync button on your handheld, and a
synchronization doesn't start, you need to close and
reopen the HotSync software. This is a 3rd Party issue
between Lotus Notes 5.0 and HotSync. We've found that
this happens most often when using the calendar section
of Lotus Notes 5.0.
5. Unable to load synchronization DLL
If you upgrade the HotSync software after Intellisync
Lite is installed, your next sync will produce the error
"Unable to load synchronization DLL". You must
reinstall the Intellisync Lite software before you can
synchronize again.
--------------------------------------------------------------
C. Lotus Organizer
1. Custom Sections
The Help file for Custom Section support between Palm
and Lotus Organizer is incorrect for this release.
Intellisync Lite will sync with the default section by default.
If the default section is no longer in the Lotus
Organizer database, then a dialog will appear during
the synchronization allowing you to select which section
you wish to sync with.
Please note: Choosing different sections during subsequent
synchronizations will result in your data being merged to
the sections you choose. (113863)
2. Changing calendar entry type
If you change an Event into an appointment in the Palm
handheld, you will end up with both the Event, and the
new appointment in Lotus Organizer.
3. Importing/Exporting Planner items
If you are using the Import or Export function of
Intellisync Lite, Planner items you have in Lotus Organizer
may be duplicated on the device. To avoid this, use
the synchronization setting instead of the Import
setting. (114023)
--------------------------------------------------------------
D. MS Outlook
1. Recurring Tasks
If you create a recurring Task within MS Outlook,
synchronize it to your handheld, and then mark an
occurrence other than the first as 'Complete', the next
synchronization will cause all occurrences prior to the
one marked as completed to be deleted from your
handheld. (111058)
2. Environments
Intellisync Lite only supports Microsoft Outlook in a single
user environment or running as a Microsoft Exchange
client.
3. First instance of a recurring task is not transferred
If you create a recurring Task in Outlook, with different
start and due dates, then the first instance of this
recurring task will not transferred to your
handheld. (116401)
IMPORTANT:
If you are syncing to Outlook and have recently upgraded
to a newer version, please start Outlook before you synchronize
your files.
--------------------------------------------------------------
E. Incompatible .dll message
Certain translators in the Intellisync Lite program require
compatability between the comcat.dll and the ole32.dll. If
the versions of these .dll files on your PC are not
compatible with each other, then certain Intellisync
translators may not install or work properly.
If you have comcat.dll version 4.71, you need ole32.dll
version 4.00 or earlier.
If you have comcat.dll version 5, you need ole32.dll
version 4.71 or later.
For more information on the compatibility of these
.dll's, please visit the Microsoft web site.
