1. Signal Strength Not Available in Ad Hoc Networking

In Ad Hoc networking signal strength is not available. The
monitor displays a green dashed line when the adapter is in a
Ready state. When the adapter is not in a ready state, the monitor
displays a red dashed line with a circled X.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Number of Stations in an Ad Hoc Network

There is no way of knowing who or how many stations are in an
Ad Hoc network.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Changing Adapter Settings

When changing the settings for your 3Com wireless LAN adapter,
use 3Com Wireless LAN Configuration Utility. Changes made through the Windows
Control Panel are overwritten when a profile is activated in
Wireless LAN Configuration Utility.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
4. Supported Wireless Security Modes

3Com Wireless LAN Configuration Utility supports the following Wireless security
modes:

- Open system (no security)
- 64-bit Shared Key WEP (wired equivalent privacy) (40-bit)
- 128-bit Shared Key WEP (104-bit)
- 802.1x Access Control (Windows XP only)

-------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Wireless LAN Configuration Utility and Windows XP

If you are using Windows XP, it is recommended that you use the
software provided with your OS to configure your WLAN device
instead of using Wireless LAN Configuration Utility.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
6. Windows XP WEP Key Index

On Windows XP, the WEP Key index in the Wireless Network Properties
dialog ranges from 0 to 3. The index range on most access points
is 1 to 4. If WEP is enabled, the encryption key and the index
needs to match for both the access point and client in order to get
connected. If the WEP key is entered in index 1 on the access point,
enter the WEP key in index 0 in Windows XP. Similarly, if the WEP
key is entered in index 2, 3, or 4 on the access point, enter the
WEP key in index 1, 2, or 3 on Windows XP, respectively.
