Installation Procedure
-------------------------

1. Login to UNIX system as supervisor (root) and enter the Maintenance mode.
   (Note: Make sure that the current directory is "/" using UNIX command - 
   pwd.)

   Please follow the following steps to copy the package file:

   >  cd /tmp   (and inserts the package floppy in the proper drive, i.e. a:)
   >  doscp a:/UW7/SMC1255.pkg .
   >  pkgadd -d /tmp/SMC1255.pkg

2. Select the number of "smez". After the new package is installed, you 
   should use the "netcfg" command to add the driver into your system like 
   the step 3 below.

3. Run "netcfg". Add the desired chain. The SMC EZ Card 10/100(SMC1255TX)
   Ethernet Adapter driver will be called as "smez".

4. When the chain has been configured, select 'q' from the
   netcfg menu. and relink the kernel at the prompt.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
