Issues Resolved
===============

Windows BASP:

1-1) Problem:
  - SLB team stops passing traffic

   Symptom:
  - When running traffic with a two member SLB team and a failover NIC there is a potential for the team to stop passing traffic. In order for the failure to occur both members of the SLB team need to be disabled and the traffic will now be running on the standby NIC. The failure can occur if one of the members of the SLB team is repeatedly enabled and disabled shifting the traffic on and off the standby NIC.

Linux BASP:

1-1) Problem:
  - Loading BASP twice can result in a kernel panic

   Symptom:
  -While the BASP service is running if the user starts the service a second time it can result in a kernel panic. This can also occur if the team is restarted after manually disabling one or more of the network interfaces that are included in the team. The recommended procedure is to first stop the BASP service prior to making any changes then re-start the BASP service. Although this is not a recommend procedure the BASP driver has been modified to avoid this situation.

1-2 Problem:
   -System locks up under stress when running in an 802.3 AD team configuration.

   Symptom:
   - Under heavy stress we have seen Linux lockup when a system is configured with an 802.3AD team running on a system with multiple processors. The problem more likely to occur when there are 3 or more NICs included in the team. When the failure occurs the system will stop passing traffic and is in a locked up state with no response from the mouse or keyboard.

New Features:
=============

Basp for Linux and Windows:

1-1) LiveLink:

    Is a feature of BASP that is available only for the Smart Load Balancing™ type of teaming. The purpose of LiveLink is to detect link loss beyond the switch and to route traffic only through team members that have a live link. This function is accomplished though the teaming software (for Windows operating systems, see Configuring LiveLink; for Linux operating systems, see Configuring LiveLink). The teaming software periodically probes (issues a link packet from each team member) one or more specified target network device(s). The probe target(s) responds when it receives the link packet. If a team member does not detect the response within a specified amount of time, this indicates that the link has been lost, and the teaming software discontinues passing traffic through that team member. Later, if that team member begins to detect a response from a probe target, this indicates that the link has been restored, and the teaming software automatically resumes passing traffic through that team member. LiveLink works only with TCP/IP.

1-2) Control Suite permission checking:

Added permission checking to the Control Suite. This feature prohibits users with limited access such as guest users from installing the software and running diagnositic tests that interrupt network traffic.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
