This package contains Asus MiVo Messenger version 1.8

1.  Introduction 

Asus MiVo Messenger (MiVo) is available for use on HD-Audio MDC hardware platform. 
The MiVo provides the user with bridge between Skype Messenger and regular 
phone (landline or cellular). This document details installation and troubleshooting of 
the Asus MiVo Messenger.

The Asus MiVo Messenger supports the following Operating Systems 

Hardware Platform       HD-Audio (MDC1.0/1.5)
Operating Systems       Windows XP SP2, Windows XP x64 SP2,Windows MCE, 
                        Windows Vista and Windows Vista 64 (rc1, build 5483)

Notes: 
  The Asus MiVo Messenger was tested with Skype version 2.0.0.97
  "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" option should be activated from Winodws
boot menu to run Asus MiVo Messenger on Vista operating system.

1.1 Supported features

- Forwarding Skype calls to a regular or cellular phone
- Calling Skype buddy from any remote PSTN phone through the modem hardware
- Calling using SkypeOut feature of Skype Messenger from any remote PSTN phone through 
the modem hardware. You need the Skype Credit to make a call using this feature.
- Contact management and synchronization with Skype buddy list
- Selective call-forwarding blocking
- Keeping the event log
- Authentication with password and/or Caller ID Type I for incoming calls
- Voice menu for incoming calls

2.  Installation

On starting Windows for the first time after installing the modem hardware, Plug 
and Play (PnP) detects the new hardware and begins an install wizard for the modem. 

Asus MiVo Messenger setup software provides MiVo application installation as well as 
the device drivers required for two different hardware operation modes. MiVo Audio 
operation mode provides Windows Audio features needed for Skype messenger, when
the modem operation mode allows to use generic data/fax modem functionality.

To start installation run the SETUP.EXE program from the Asus MiVo Messenger CD. 
After installation will be completed "Asus MiVo Messenger" folder will be added 
into the Windows Start Menu, from which you can execute MiVo Messenger using icon
with same name. The first time MiVo Messenger is started, it will ask to complete
initial configuration using MiVo Configuration Wizard that will guide over several
option dialogs.

Note: 
 - Windows administrative permissions are required for MiVo installation.
 - Windows Vista requires "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" option activated from
boot menu.
 - All applications that use Modem or MiVo Audio functionality must be closed.
 - The Skype application should be installed on the PC before you start installation 
of Asus MiVo Messenger. If Skype is not found on PC the MiVo Messenger software will 
show an error message requesting to install Skype.
 - It is not recommended to select installation directory located on network resource, 
due to security features of the Internet Explorer there could be possible problems 
with help viewing.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
