A:\NOVELL\ODIDE450.INF 29-JUL-1996 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOW TO INSTALL DE450 WITH WINDOWS 95 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Before attempting to use the NetWare ODI Client 32 driver from this disk, some steps must be taken to prevent the operating system from installing the wrong driver. 1. First, make sure that the NetWare Client 32 files have been installed on your system. If not, they can be found on your NetWare CD or floppy disks or by downloading updates from Novell's site on the WWW. 2. Before inserting the adapter in your system, boot Windows 95 and bring up a DOS prompt. Change directories to C:\WINDOWS\INF. This directory is a hidden directory. Rename the NETPCI.INF file to NETPCI.BAK using the following command: C:\WINDOWS\INF>move NETPCI.INF NETPCI.BAK 3. Exit Windows 95 and shutdown the system. 4. Insert the network adapter in your system. 5. Power up your system and boot Windows 95. During the boot of the operating system, Windows 95 will autodetect the new hardware you just installed. You will see a message that says it has detected a new PCI Ethernet Controller. 6. Next, Windows 95 will request the driver that you wish to install. Select "Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer." and click on OK. 7. When prompted, tell Windows 95 to copy manufacturer's files from: A:\NOVELL\SRVODI\ At this point Windows 95 should have copied ODIDE450.INF and DE450.LAN to the appropriate directories. 8. Windows 95 may ask for the location of the Windows 95 CD or floppy disks. Enter the proper path to your source media. 9. After all the necessary files have been copied, a reboot may be requested by Windows 95. Click on YES to reboot the system and once the reboot is complete, the adapter will be operational. ***TRADEMARKS*** Windows 95 is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation.
