Windows 95/98 Installation Driver for
56K HSP K56Flex PnP Internal Modem
56K HSP PCMCIA Modem (Revision 1 and 2)
(Using PCtel 388P chipset)
**************************************

Device Driver:	7.55 Release s8
Modem Type:	ISA PNP Card or PCMCIA Card
CPU Type:	Intel Pentium CPU technology 166MHz and up

		Cyrix 6x86MX PR200 Processor and up
OS Platform:	Win 95, Win 95 OSR2, Win 98 Beta 3

Host Signal Processing (HSP) modem is a software based modem technology.
It is different from the traditional modem in the way it handles the UART and data pump.
Software driver not only takes care of the system interface to the HSP modem but also the
UART and data pump by utilizing excess CPU power. The HSP modem is software upgradable
for increased performance and new features.

BASIC MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENT FOR 56KBPS CONNECTIONS
=======================================================
 1. Intel Pentium 166 Mhz and up
 2. AMD K6 166 Mmz and up

§ Improved busy tone detection on PBXs in Taiwan

Difference of version 3.52.02.7 from version 3.52.02
====================================================
 * Resolve some ISP K56Flex connection which falls back to V.34.
 * Resolve some ISP problem with EarthLink.
 * Resolve Livingston (Lucent) K56Flex Server issues.

FEATURES ADDED
==============
 * Support Intel Pentium, Intel MMX, AMD MMX, and Cyrix MMX
 * Un-installation Utility in the Control Panel.
 * u-law/a-law auto detection mode.
 * New Interpolator algorithm used in this version which improve the overall SNR by 1.5dB.

Issuses resolve in this issue
=============================
 * Improved a-law connection speed.
 * Improved connectivity.
 * Improved robustness of retrain and rate negotiation sequence.
 * Improved connectivity with various types of lines EIA3, EIA4, EIA5

Special Note
============
 * The line speed connection will be V.34 only if the HSP modem tries to connect to a
   USR X2 56K modem or x2 ISP modem pool.

MEYE Engineering Utilities
==========================
 Modem EYE utilitis, MEYE.EXE, allows real-time display on the modem and shows the phone
 line condition activities.

 Under V.34 connections, you will see a circle constellation.
 In K56Flex connections, you will see three straight horizontal lines.

 BitR : Determines the BitRate of the 56K modem
        BitRate = 32000 + BitR * 2000 bps
        For example : BitR of 4 represent a BitRate of 44Kbps.
 Sym : Represents the (Symbol Rate) BAUD rate of the 56K modem.
 S/N : Signal to noise ratio
 CPU Load = Determines how much CPU loading this HSP modem uses.
 uC : UnderRun. Should be Zero.
 oC : OverRun. Should be Zero

CPU TESTED
==========
 1. Intel Pentium 166
 2. Intel Pentium 200 MMX
 3. Intel Pentium II 200 MMX
 4. AMD K6 200 mmx
 5. IBM/Cyrix 6x86mx PR200
