                      ----------------------------------
                      LINUX Driver Installation Overview
                      ----------------------------------

  RedHat Linux
  ------------

  Installation Procedure for RedHat 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 and 7.0
  -------------------------------------------------------
  1. During installation of Linux, make sure that the "C Development"
selection is choosen under "Component to Install" window. This will
copy the C compiler into the system for compiling the driver.

  2. Also in the Network Configuration window during installation, you
will be asked if you want to configure LAN (not dailup) networking
for your installed system. Answer YES.

  3. Insert the floppy disk with the FA331 driver, and mount the disk into
the system with the following command:

          mount -t msdos /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy

  4. Copy the Linux-related files from the disk into the system hard disk
with the following command. Four files will be copied: fa3xx.c,
      fa3xx.h, fa33x.o and Makefile.

          cp /mnt/floppy/linux/redhat6.0/* . (For Redhat 6.0)
          cp /mnt/floppy/linux/redhat6.1/* . (For Redhat 6.1)
          cp /mnt/floppy/linux/redhat6.2/* . (For Redhat 6.2)
          cp /mnt/floppy/linux/redhat7.0/* . (For Redhat 7.0)

  5. Compile fa3xx.c by executing the "make all" command at the prompt.

  6. Copy fa33x.o into the latest kernel's modules.

          cp fa33x.o /lib/modules/2.2.xx-xx/net/

  7. Insert the driver as module:
        insmod fa33x.o
(run 'lsmod' to see if the module is inserted)

  8. For RedHat 6.0:
Execute 'netconf', then enter the "Basic host information/Adaptor 1"
        to setting:
            IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
            Netmask: 255.255.255.0
            Net device: eth0
            Kernel mode: fa33x

      For RedHat 6.1, 6.2 and 7.0:
Execute 'netconfig' to setting IP address, netmask, gateway and DNS.

  9. Then just add 'insmod /your driver path/fa33x.o' line at the
      beginning of '/etc/rc.d/init.d/network'.
Your driver will work every time you boot.

 10. You can check if the driver is properly activating the card using
the "dmesg" command right after system bootup.
