Overview

This is the basic Gateway OEM Windows XP driver for the Integrated AC-Link 3D Game sound card.


Identification

1.  The computer must contain the following chipset: Integrated AC-Link 3D Game Audio. 

If the sound drivers have been previously installed, the sound chipset can be identified in Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers.

2.  Supported operating systems include Windows XP.


Installation

Download the file to the desktop, and then follow these steps. 

1.  After you have downloaded and double-clicked the 7511678.exe file, the files self-extract and copy into the C:\Cabs\7511678 folder.

2.  Close all open programs.

3.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.  

4.  In Control Panel, click the Performance and Maintenance icon.  

5.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, click the System icon. 

6.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager. 

7.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound, video and game controllers.

8.  Double-click AC-Link 3D Game Audio.

9.  In the AC-Link 3D Game Audio Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.

10.  In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and then click Next.

11.  Click to clear the Search removable media (Floppy, CD-ROM) check box.  Select the Include this location in the search check box.

12.  In the text box, type: C:\Cabs\7511678.  Click Next.

13.  Files copy.  In the Add New Hardware Wizard dialog box, click Finish.  

14.  Close all open dialog boxes.

15.  When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.


Removal

1.  From the Start menu, click Control Panel.  

2.  In Control Panel, click the Performance and Maintenance icon.  

3.  In the Performance and Maintenance window, click the System icon. 

4.  In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.  

5.  In Device Manager, double-click Sound, video and game controllers.

6.  Double-click AC-Link 3D Game Audio.

7.  In the AC-Link 3D Game Audio Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall Driver.

8.  In the Warning dialog box, click OK.

9.  When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.  If there is another prompt to restart the computer again, click Yes.


Troubleshooting

If you are having difficulty during driver installation or after, perform these troubleshooting steps. 

1.  Verify that all cables are securely connected.  

2. Verify that the computer is set to analog or digital audio, depending on the speakers you have, by following this procedure:

 a.  From the Start menu, point to All Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, and then click Volume Control. 
 b.  In the Volume Control window, below the Play Control Volume slider, click Advanced. 

 Note: If the Advanced option does not appear below the Play Control Volume slider, from the Options menu, click Advanced Controls. 

 c.  In the Advanced Options for Play Control dialog box, digital output is enabled if the Digital Output Only check box is selected.  If the check box is clear, analog output is enabled. 
 d.  Select or clear the Digital Output Only check box for the type of output that you want to use, and then click Close. 

3.  Verify that your operating system is Windows XP, as these drivers are only functional under this operating system.

4.  If you still have difficulties installing this file, download the file again, and then ensure that all instructions in this document are followed.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
