1. First download the driver for the USB connection
by clicking the button below.
2. Download this to your desktop and then double
click on it. The driver files will be extracted to
C:\PCX1100U USB DRIVERS
3. Make sure the modem is connected to your computer
using the USB cable supplied and attached to the
modem in the port marked USB. Also make sure the
power supply is connected to the modem and the
power is on. The power light on the modem will indicate
this.
4. After this is performed, the Found New Hardware Wizard
appears- click Cancel to close this window. Then from
your Desktop click on START, from the menu select
SETTINGS and then CONTROL PANEL. The CONTROL
PANEL will open.
5. In the CONTROL PANEL double click on the icon that is
marked SYSTEM. This will open a new window called
SYSTEM PROPERTIES. From this window select the
tab that is marked DEVICE MANAGER. With this selected
a list of system devices will appear with "+" or "-" to the left
of them. Working your way down the list look for any entries
that refer to the Toshiba cable modem. This may be in the
"OTHER DEVICES" catagory and have a "?" or "!" marked
next to the device. Highlight the first one you find and then
click the button at the bottom of the window that is marked
REMOVE. A box will appear asking you if you are sure you
want to remove this. Click OK. Repeat this until all "?" or "!"
marked devices are gone.
6. Now look towards the bottom of the list and click on "+" next
to UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS Look in this
list and if there is a device named USB COMPOSITE DEVICE
then please highlight this and click REMOVE.
7. Once all this has been completed click on the button at the
bottom of the window that is marked REFRESH. The Found
New Hardware Wizard should appear. There will be two options:
"Automatic Search" or "Specify the location" chose "Specify
the location" and click NEXT.
8. In the next window there will be a few options. Make sure only
the option that is labeled "Specify a location" has a check mark
in the box to the left of it. Now click on the button marked
BROWSE.
9. A window will appear called BROWSE FOR FOLDER. In this
window click on the "+" next to C: and a list of folders should
appear underneath this. Click on the PCX1100U USB Drivers
folder and then click OK and this window will dissapear.
10.Now back in the Found New Hardware Wizard window under
"Specify location" the path to the drivers should be displayed.
Then click NEXT.
11.Windows will ask you to wait while it searches for a new driver
for the device. When Windows finds the driver a window will
appear. From this window select
"The updated driver (Recommended) Toshiba PCX1100U
USB cable modem (WDM)" and click NEXT. Windows will
say it is ready to install the best driver for this device and
click NEXT.
12.The drivers will load and Windows will prompt to click FINISH,
please do this.
13.Again the Found New Hardware Wizard will this time it will say it
has found "Toshiba PCX1100U USB Cable Modem Networking
support". Simply click NEXT when prompted through every window.
You may be asked to insert the WindowsMe CD, if so, please do this
and when finished click FINISH.
14.You will be promted to restart your computer. Click YES. Once
the computer restarts, the PC light on the modem should be on
solid.
15.This completes the USB install. Any other settings should be
provided by the cable company.

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
