But, It does work 100% BIOS, Change to EPP. ReBoot, Change LPT1 from standard LPT1 to ECP Port. Its all here... I didn't believe it... I was skeptic. It works!!!! Woooo Whooo~ I don't have to get rid of something that has been so good to me for 10 Years! See? Why UpGrade? (LoL!) Ok, I hope this helps people. WinNT, Win2K, WinXP. How can I get the drivers for this? Answer The CD that came with your scanner will work on Win XP, you need to make sure the system is set up properly. BIOS Setup This is done before windows boots up, depending on your BIOS manufacturer this might say on first screen upon booting hit "F1" or "F2" or "Del" to enter setup if you see this hit the key it requests to enter setup then look for "Integrated Peripherals" or "Peripheral configuration" or "I/O Devices" If you do not see these on the main screen look for "Advanced " at the top of the screen and enter (advanced area) then look for the above then locate "Parallel Port MODE " and change it to EPP. If you are having trouble maybe you could contact the computer manufacturer about how to make the necessary changes. Updating Parallel port drivers in Windows Go to SYSTEM PROPERTIES START/SETTINGS/CONTROL PANEL/SYSTEM select device manager locate ports and click on the + sign to open up the ports view. In device manager check that you do in fact have an "ECP Printer port" not just a "Printer port LPT1" if it is the latter please update the port drivers. You do this by selecting the driver tab in properties for the parallel port (Lpt1), then select UPDATE driver then windows will offer to search or display a list DO NOT let windows search, choose display a list, this will list printer port and a date, at the bottom of this screen select SHOW ALL HARDWARE, next you will see Standard ports on the left (highlighted) and ECP Printer port on the right then select ECP Printer port then continue, it may prompt you for your Windows CD at this time, if so please insert it and continue with the onscreen instructions, when it has completed you should see ECP printer port under port listing for Lpt1.630p drivers can be obtained from 630p drivers you DO NEED ALL 5 FILES! Download them and save them to the same folder, when you double click on each file it will prompt to extract the files to \Temp\Scanace (Extract location is C:\Temp\Scanace once you have extracted ALL 5 files, browse to C:\Temp\Scanace open the folder and double click the Setup.exe icon to install, once installed the user's manual will be located under the Start Programs-- Scan 300-600 Support Information: Device Type: Scanner Manufacturer: Pacific Image Scanners Model: 630P Interface: Parallel Port Operating System: All Windows 2000, NT, XP Age of Device: Not specifiedDownload Driver Pack
