1.0 WHAT'S NEW IN SOCKETSCAN XP VERSION 6.1.0
1.1 This Socketscan Web Release adds several new features to the
SocketscanXP software listed below:
- MSR 4E 2K/XP/XP Tablet Support
- CRS 9P 2K/XP/XP Tablet Support
- Cordless Scanner Reconnect Feature
- Connect!Agent Support for Microsoft SP2 Bluetooth Stack,
and SOcket BlueSoleil Stack
Connect!Agent support is an optional feature for users who are
running the listed supported Bluetooth software stacks and do not
wish to interface with the Bluetooth software.
You can download the latest desktop version of Connect!Agent from our
website at the following link:
http://www.socketcom.com/support/drivers.asp
SocketscanXP software natively supports several other bluetooth
stacks with a manual connection and have tested with the following
stacks listed below:
- Widcomm/Broadcomm
- Toshiba version 3.03 and higher
- Socket BlueSoleil
- Microsoft SP2
1.2 From the release of SocketScanXP version 6.0.1 and up Socket no
longer supports our scanner products in devices running Windows 98SE,
NT, Me and 2000. An older version of SocketScan9x/NT will remain
available on the download section of Socket's web site. NOTE: This
version may install in devices running these older operating systems
and the scanner products may work correctly, but these OS/product
combinations have not been reviewed in a complete QA process.
2.0 KNOWN ISSUES
2.1 Socketscan XP does not support WindowsXP’s multi user with
different user group permissions. Only the administrator can install
and configure SocketscanXP.
2.2 Double-clicking the Socket CS Connect icon leaves the active focus
on the icon itself. If the user does not refocus on the application
then a scan with the default suffix will automatically execute the
Socket CS reconnect exe causing a scanner disconnect.
2.3 The CHS Battery Status indicator in the SocketScan Configuration
Utility is not accurate until 5 or more bar codes have been scanned
after opening the "CHS" page to check the battery status.
3.0 INSTALLATION NOTES
3.1 2D Scan Card 5B and 5X in the desktop will work with 3.3V PCCARD
slots.
3.2 DEVICE FAILURE ERROR: This Error occurs if the OLD driver is
used with CFSC5M, CFSC5P ISC Scanners. User should update the
Serial driver. The procedure to update Serial Driver is:
3.2.1 Close the SocketScan application.
3.2.2 Doulble-Click on "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the
taskbar.
3.2.3 Click on the "Properties" button and select the "Driver"
tab.
3.2.4 Select "Update Driver..." button, Hardware Update Wizard
will be displayed.
3.2.5 Select the radio button "Install from a list or specific
location (Advanced)" and click "Next >" button.
3.2.6 Select radio button "Search for the best driver ..."
and select "Include this location in the search:" and
use Browse button to select the driver location in the
CDROM and select "Next >".
3.2.7 Follow the instructions on the screen by the
Hardware Update Wizard and the driver should be updated.
3.2.8 Close the properties page and Safely Remove Hardware window
by clicking on "Close" button.
URGENT: When loading SocketScan, any previous version of SocketScan
must first be completely uninstalled. Because of a change in Socket
naming conventions, the new version will not replace the older
version and a second SocketScan directory will be created.
URGENT: This software must be installed directly from this CD. When
launching the CD and installing the software in Internet Explorer,
a "File Download" window appears with the options to either "Run
this program from it's current location" or "Save this program to
disk". You must choose to "Run this program from it's current
location". When the Security Warning screen appears, click Yes to
continue.
Because Netscape does not offer the option of running the program
from the CD, Netscape cannot be used to install this software. If
Netscape is set as the default browser on your system, open the
Internet Explorer that came with your Windows operating system,
click on File, then Open, browse to the CD and open setup.htm.
