32-bit CardBus 10/100 Ethernet NDIS2 Drivers Installation for Banyan VINES v5.x ================================================ In this driver release, the NDIS2 drivers are provided for the Banyan VINES installation. The NDIS2 driver, CB8139.DOS, is located in subdirectory \NDIS and it follows Microsoft's NDIS specification version 2.0.1. DRIVER LOCATION : \NDIS\CB8139.DOS Please also refer to the \NDIS\README.TXT file for the optional keywords defined for CB8139.DOS and to be specified in PROTOCOL.INI. For more information about setting up the networking system driver, please see your Banyan VINES for DOS workstation documentation. Installation procedure: ------------------------- Create a bootable diskette which will be used as boot diskette of Banyan VINES workstation or create a sub-directory on you hard disk. 1. Copy the contents of the "VINES LAN S/W (DOS) Install" diskette into the sub-directory. COPY A:\*.* C:\VINES\*.* 2. Copy the contents of the NDIS subdirectory on the "VINES LAN S/W (DOS) 2 of 2" diskette into the \VINES sub-directory. COPY A:\*.* C:\VINES\*.* 3. Insert the 32-bit CardBus 10/100 Ethernet driver diskette in driver'A', and copy files to the \VINES sub-directory. COPY A:\NDIS\CB8139.DOS C:\VINES 4. Create a CB8139.NIF file in C:\VINES containing the following statements: Model = 32-bit CardBus 10/100 Ethernet Path = C:\VINES DeviceDriver = CB8139.DOS DeviceName = CB8139$ Type = NDIS 5. Create or modify the PROTOCOL.INI file in C:\VINES as follows: [PROTOCOL MANAGER] DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$ [VINES_XIF] DRIVERNAME = NDISBAN$ BINDINGS = CB8139 [CB8139] DRIVERNAME = CB8139$ 6. Execute the PCCONFIG.EXE command located in the \VINES subdirectory. 7. When "CONFIGURATION A PC FOR NETWORK" is displayed on the screen, then select option '1 - Network Card Settings'. : "Network Card Settings" is displayed on the screen then select option 'NDIS Ethernet'. : "NDIS Ethernet" is displayed on the screen then select and set for '32-bit CardBus 10/100 Ethernet'. Press 'F10' when done, return to "CONFIGURATION A PC NETWORK" screen. 8. When "CONFIGURATION A PC NETWORK" is displayed again on the screen, then select option '2 - Login Environment settings'. : The "1 - Select Default Communications Driver" is displayed on the screen, then select option 'NDIS Ethernet'. : Then 'PCCONFIG.DB' file will be generated. 9. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and add the following statements lines. DEVICE=C:\VINES\PROTMAN.DOS /I:C:\VINES DEVICE=C:\VINES\CB8139.DOS 10. Reboot your computer. 11. Login into VINES by executing the 'BAN' command.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
