How to install the Microsoft WinNT 3.5 RPL server

  1.Installing the Remoteboot Service on the Server.

  2.Installing MS-DOS Files for Remoteboot Workstation.
    (a).net use v:\\server\rplfiles ; where server is the name of the
                                    ; remoteboot server
    (b).Copy all the MS-DOS files to the \systemroot\RPL\RPLFILES\BINFILES\DOSxxx
        copy c:\dos\*.* v:\binfiles\dos622
        attrib -s -h c:\io.sys
        attrib -s -h c:\msdos.sys
        copy c:\io.sys v:\binfiles\dos622
        copy c:\msdos.sys v:\binfiles\dos622
        attrib +s +h c:\io.sys
        attrib +s +h c:\msdos.sys
    (c).Shutdown Windows NTAS server, and reboot it.

  3.Starting remoteboot manager
        net start remoteboot

  4.Creating remoteboot configuration for new adapter
    (a) copy the MS-DOS device driver for the network adapter(A:\W30ND.DOS)
        to the \systemroot\RPL\BBLOCK\NDIS directory
    (b) Create the directory \systemroot\RPL\BBLOCK\NETBEUI\W30ND and
        copy A:\WINNT\*.* files include W30ND.CNF, Protocol.ini.
    (c) make sure W30ND.CNF file included the following two lines :
        DAT   BBLOCK\NETBEUI\W30ND\PROTOCOL.INI
        DRV   BBLCOK\NDIS\W30ND.DOS
    (d) use RPLCMD utility to add a bblock record for new adapter.
    (e) \winnt\rpl\RPLCMD

 Step1  Adapter Boot Config Profile Service Vendor Wksta [Quite] V
        Add Del Enum: a
        VendorName=xxxxxx    where xxxxxx is the first 6 digits of your
                             PCI Ethernet Card's ID
                             For example :  if your PCI Ethernet Card's
                                            Ethernet ID is 002018ff00ff
                                            then the VendorName must be
                                                 002018
        VendorComment=Customer Brand

 Step2  Adapter Boot Config Profile Service Vendor Wksta [Quite] B
        Add Del Enum:a
        BootName=DOSX
        VendorName=xxxxxx
        BbcFile=BBLOCK\NETBEUI\W30ND\W30ND.CNF
        BootCommet=Name of this adapter
        WindowsSize=0

 Step3  Adapter Boot Config Profile Service Vendor Wksta [Quite] C
        Add Del Enum:a
        ConfigName=DOS622X
        BootName=DOSX
        DirName=DOS
        DirName2=DOS622
        FitShared=fits\dos622.FIT
        FitPersonal=fits\dos622p.FIT
        ConfigComment=DOS 6.22 <Adapter name>
        DirName3=
        DirName4=


        NOTE :   If your need to install mutiple cards with the same VendorName
        ----     in same NT server, you could change the following line and
                 repeat the step2 and step3 to create the defferent Boot
                 configuration.

                 BootName=DOSX
                 ConfigName=DOS622X

                 Replace the keyword X to another word
                 For example  BootName=DOSA
                              ConfigName=DOS622A


  5.To create a profile and add a new workstation.

  6.Burn the Boot ROM into a PROM.

  7.Run Boot ROM of your PCI Ethernet Card.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
