Beschreibung dieser Release
===========================
Die Matrox PowerDesk Software enthält einen Bildschirmtreiber und
Programme für die Bildschirmanzeige. Mit dieser Software können Sie
die Matrox Grafikhardware voll ausnutzen und auf weitere
anzeigerelevante Matrox-Funktionen zugreifen.
Installation
============
Starten Sie zur Installation von Matrox PowerDesk das mitgelieferte
Programm "Setup", und befolgen Sie anschließend die Anweisungen auf
dem Bildschirm.
Das Setup-Programm installiert die Software nur, wenn in Ihrem
Computer eine Matrox Grafikkarte installiert ist, die das Setup-
Programm unterstützt.

Hinweise, Probleme und Beschränkungen

- Unterstützung von DirectDraw, Direct3D und DirectVideo
Der im Lieferumfang enthaltene DirectDraw-Treiber ist mit
DirectX 2 (oder höher) kompatibel und bietet Unterstützung für
Direct3D. Damit sich der DirectDraw/Direct3D-Treiber aufrufen
läßt und die Hardware-Beschleunigung nutzen kann, MUß Microsoft
DirectX 2 (oder höher) installiert sein, selbst für Programme,
die ursprünglich für DirectX 1 hergestellt wurden.
Falls eine ältere Version von DirectX installiert ist, stehen
einige Matrox PowerDesk Funktionen nicht zur Verfügung.
Wir liefern DirectX auf der Matrox-CD-ROM. Die neueste DirectX-
Version ist über die Microsoft Web-Site erhältlich und ist auch
in vielen DirectX-Programmen enthalten.
WICHTIG: Wenn Sie das Setup-Programm von DirectX auffordert, die
vorhandenen Anzeigetreiber zu ersetzen, klicken Sie auf "Nein".
Andernfalls installiert das Setup-Programm Anzeigetreiber, die
nicht so optimiert sind wie die Matrox-Treiber und die die
PowerDesk-Software nicht unterstützen.
Beachten Sie, daß Ihre Microsoft DirectX-Software je nach
Ursprung eventuell keine Unterstützung für DirectVideo bietet.
Zur schnelleren Wiedergabe von Indeo-und Cinepak AVI-Dateien
sollten Sie die Microsoft DirectVideo-Unterstützung installiert
haben.
- Matrox-Bus-Mastering
Dieser Treiber unterstützt die Bus-Mastering-Funktion, die es
Erweiterungskarten ermöglicht, Aufgaben synchron zur CPU Ihres
Rechners durchzuführen. Wenn Sie mit einem schnellen Pentium-
Computer (über 166 MHz) arbeiten, wird die Anzeigeleistung der
meisten Programme durch Bus-Mastering gesteigert.
Wenn Sie Bus-Mastering mit 3D (Direct3D/OpenGL)-Programmen
verwenden möchten, muß der Grafikkarte ein Interrupt Request
(IRQ) zugewiesen sein. Dies erfolgt in der Regel automatisch; es
gibt aber auch Computer, die Grafikkarten keine IRQs zuweisen.
Wenn Ihrer Grafikkarte kein IRQ zugewiesen wurde, können in
Programmen, die Matrox-Bus-Mastering verwenden, Probleme
auftreten. Weitere Informationen hierzu finden Sie in Ihrem
Matrox-Handbuch oder dem Systemhandbuch.
- DirectDraw und Automatic Power Management
Wie bereits in den "Microsoft DirectX-Freigabemitteilungen" vom
30. September 1995 erwähnt, kann sich ein DirectDraw-Spiel
eventuell nicht richtig wiederherstellen, wenn es von den
Automatic Power Management-Dienstprogrammen in den Standby-Modus
geschaltet wird.
- Installation verschiedener Sprachversionen von Windows
Wenn Sie die Software in einer anderen Sprache als der
Betriebssystemsprache installieren (z.B. englische Software auf
einem japanischen System), treten eventuell Probleme auf, bei
denen Text- und Dialogfeldsteuerelemente abgeschnitten werden.
Der Grund dafür sind Unterschiede in den System-Schriftarten.
- OpenGL-Unterstützung
Beachten Sie bitte die folgenden Einschränkungen in bezug auf den
OpenGL (3D)-Treiber, der in Ihrem Matrox-Bildschirmtreiber
enthalten ist:

OpenGL support may be disabled with your Matrox display
driver. For a Matrox display driver with full OpenGL support
enabled, see the Matrox Web site (www.matrox.com/mga). (If

computer, check the Web site of that manufacturer for a
display driver. A display driver provided by the manufacturer
of your computer is more likely to be tested with your
computer model.)

- Bei Verwendung von 3D Studio MAX 2.0 können Probleme mit
einem nicht richtig neugezeichneten Viewport auftreten. In
diesem Fall klicken Sie in einen Viewport, um dessen Anzeige
korrekt zu aktualisieren. Dieses Problem tritt bei Version
2.5 (oder höher) von 3D Studio MAX nicht auf.

- DualHead Multi-Display mode under Windows 2000
If you have a DualHead-supporting graphics card and you apply
"DualHead Multi-Display" mode under Windows 2000, this version of
Windows treats the main and secondary displays of a DualHead-
supporting graphics card as a single display (which the Matrox
display driver divides between two monitors). As a result, these
displays always use the same resolution and color palette
settings. Also, in your Windows desktop, the virtual positions of
these displays are always aligned next to each other.
While in DualHead Multi-Display mode with a computer monitor as
your secondary display, you can't adjust your secondary monitor
with the Windows "Monitor" or the Matrox PowerDesk "Monitor
Settings" property sheets. If your secondary monitor supports
Plug-and-Play (DDC), PowerDesk automatically uses the correct
maximum display resolution and refresh rate. If your secondary
monitor doesn't support Plug-and-Play, make sure that the correct
settings are selected under "Max. secondary resolution" on the
Matrox PowerDesk "DualHead" property sheet.
- Video playback with DualHead modes
If you have a a DualHead supporting graphics card and you're
using DualHead Multi-Display, Clone, or Zoom mode, digital video
may appear as a solid color on your secondary display. This can
happen if video is played using the hardware-overlay feature of
your Matrox graphics card. Video played using the overlay feature
is generally of higher quality but it can be viewed only on your
main display.
Because only one program at a time can use the overlay feature,
any other program started while the overlay feature is used won't
be able to use the feature. The overlay feature will be available
to the first program to start after the program currently using
the overlay is closed.
For video that normally uses the hardware-overlay feature, you
may be able to view the digital video on your secondary display
by running another instance of the video player. For example, if
you're viewing a file using the overlay feature with Microsoft
Media Player, double-clicking on the file again starts another
instance of the Media Player. This instance properly plays video
on your secondary display. Then, you could close the first
instance of the Media Player and still be able to view video on
your secondary display.

- 15 Bit Farbpalettenunterstützung für Windows 2000
Für erfahrene Nutzer: Entsprechend dem Standard von Windows 2000
wird die 15 Bit Farbpalette nicht unterstützt. Falls Sie dennoch
die Farbpalette benötigen, fügen Sie bitte folgenden Eintrag in
die Registrierungsdatei ein; "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" > "SYSTEM" >
"CurrentControlSet" > "Services" > "mgau" oder "g200" oder "g400"
> "Device0" -> "User.Enable15Bpp" = 1 Der Eintrag ist vom Typ
"REG_DWORD".
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
