Eicon Networks Corporation Diva ADSL USB General Information 1. Introduction ======================================================================= This document provides the latest information about your Eicon(r) Networks(tm) Diva(tm) ADSL USB. This information supersedes all other corresponding information included in the documentation or online help. 2. Previously installed ADSL Modem driver ======================================================================= Users are advised to remove/uninstall all previously installed ADSL Modem drivers before installing the Eicon Diva ADSL USB Modem. 3. Connecting the USB Cable ======================================================================= Leave your computer on during installation. If your computer is off, do not connect the USB cable before turning your computer on. Connect the USB cable only after Windows has booted and the desktop is visible. If you connect the USB cable before turning on your computer, click 'Cancel' when prompted. If you do not click 'Cancel', Windows will ask you to supply a driver, but the complete installation will not succeed. 4. USB Compatibility ======================================================================= The USB port can be used only if your system is running Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, or Windows Millennium Edition. The USB port will not work with Windows 95, Apple(r) Macintosh(r), Windows NT(r), or other systems. 5. Connecting Multiple USB Devices ======================================================================= Connecting more than one device on the same USB port is not recommended due to possible performance degradation. This effect depends on the number of USB devices you have connected to a port, as well as whether or not you are using a USB hub. 6. USB Video Cameras ======================================================================= You should not connect the Diva ADSL USB to the same USB controller as a USB video camera. Doing so may interefere with the functioning of the video camera. 7. Firewall products and Windows XP ======================================================================= Windows XP includes a built-in firewall. Installing a second firewall program that is not specifically compatible with Windows XP will likely interfere with your ability to access the Internet through the Diva ADSL USB (or any other modem/network device). If you have installed a second firewall in Windows XP, you must uninstall the software. Disabling the second firewall software may not solve the problem. 8. Documentation ======================================================================= Along with this readme file, the Diva CD-ROM contains a copy of the Quickstart Guide in PDF format in the 'doc' folder. Regulatory information can also be found in this folder. 9. Bonus Software ======================================================================= The Diva CD-ROM also contains bonus software located in the 'bonus' folder. These software programs are freeware, trialware, or shareware and are not supported by Eicon Networks Corporation or the Internet Service Provider. Two programs of note are Adobe Acrobat Reader and Zone Alarm. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required for reading PDF files, such as the Quickstart Guide PDF. The Acrobat Reader is located in the folder 'bonus/acrobat'. ZoneAlarm (copyright Zone Labs), located in the folder 'bonus/zonalm', is a personal firewall security software that is free for personal and non-profit use. Corporations may use this software on an evaluation basis. A license can be purchased online on the Zone Labs website at www.zonelabs.com/buy.htm. You can download the ZoneAlarm software from www.zonelabs.com/download.htm. For support or other information, visit the ZoneAlarm Web site at www.zonelabs.com. Please be advised that the user bears all risks and responsibilities for using the bonus software. ####################################################################### Copyright (c) 2002 Eicon Networks Corporation.Download Driver Pack
