   TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS
   ====================

AT LEAST ONE DEVICE OR DRIVER FAILED DURING SYSTEM STARTUP
   ----------------------------------------------------------
If Windows NT fails to detect or initialize the EtherExpress PRO/100 ISA
adapter, you will get this error message in the Event Viewer:

"At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event
Viewer to examine the event log for details."

If this error is related to the PRO/100 ISA LAN Adapter, you should see an
entry in the Event Viewer in the source column labeled "E100". Double click
on that entry and view the error message.

1 Verify that the I/O address and/or interrupt being used by the
EtherExpress PRO/100 ISA are not being used by any other device in your
workstation like a sound card, faxmodem, scanner, tape backup,
      serial ports, parallel ports, etc.

2 Verify that the EtherExpress PRO/100 ISA passes all diagnostic tests
by running CONFIG.EXE from DOS and selecting "DIAG". If the
EtherExpress PRO/100 ISA adapter fails diagnostics it will not function
correctly under Windows NT. If diagnostics fail, try setting the
EtherExpress PRO/100 ISA to a different I/O address or a different
      interrupt.

ADAPTER PASSES DIAGNOSTICS BUT STILL DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS NT
   ------------------------------------------------------------------
If the adapter passes diagnostics but still does not work with Windows NT,
there could be a problem with the network setup configuration. If you've
made several attempts to configure the network setup for Windows NT or had
another adapter installed before the EtherExpress PRO/100 ISA adapter, it
may be necessary to restore the Windows NT network configuration to default
settings and then reconfigure the Windows NT network setup. Here's how:

1 Open the "My Computer" icon.

2 Open the "Control Panel" icon from the My Computer window.

3 Open the "Network" icon from the Control Panel window.

   4 Select the "Adapter" tab

5 Select the "Intel EtherExpress PRO/100 ISA" from the Network Components
list, and click "Remove". This removes the adapter and all associated
components from the Windows NT network configuration.

6 From the Network Configuration window, click "OK".

7 When Windows NT finishes copying files and updating the network
configuration, you will be prompted to restart your computer for the
changes to take effect, click "Yes".

8 After the workstation reboots, continue at step 1 of the GENERAL
      INSTALLATION section of this document.
