   IBM LAN Server Workstation Installation Notes for Intel's 
   EtherExpress PRO/100 ISA LAN Adapter
   ================================================================
      
  Location of Driver: \NDIS\E100ISA.DOS      

  GENERAL INSTALLATION
  --------------------

  1  Insert the LAN Server 4.0 DOS/Windows client disk 1 into drive A
     and type "A:\INSTALL.EXE"

  2  Specify the directory you want to install the DOS LAN requester
     files into, the default is C:\NET.

  3  From the Select Network Adapter menu, choose "Network card not
     shown on list below ..." .

  4  When prompted for the path of the OEM driver, insert the PRO/100
     ISA driver disk into drive A: and specify the path as "A:\NDIS".    

  5  Select the Intel EtherExpress(TM) PRO/100 ISA Adapter from the list.

  6  Enter in a unique Machine Name for your workstation.

  7  Enter in your User Name.

  8  Enter the Domain Name that your workstation is attached to.

  9  Specify which DOS LAN Services you want from the list:

        Graphical User Interface: Install GUI
        Peer Services:            Install Peer Services 
        Windows Support:          Install Windows Support
        Protocol Driver:          IBM NetBEUI

 10  Verify the listed options are correct, then press "ENTER" to 
     continue.

 11  Verify the EtherExpress adapter settings are correct, and press 
     "ENTER" to continue:

   		Keyword         	Default Value

 12 Exit to DOS from the install program on your computer by pressing
    "F3" after the installation is complete.


  Hints & Tips
  ------------
   1  If the EtherExpress PRO/100 ISA adapter is failing to load the 
      driver or connect to the network, verify that the Interrupt being 
      used by the EtherExpress PRO/100 ISA adapter is not being used by 
      any other device in your  workstation like a sound card, faxmodem, 
      scanner, tape backup, serial ports, parallel ports, etc. 

   2  Error message "340E Mac Driver not installed-- Protman open error"

      This error message occurs when the workstation tries to load E100ISA.DOS 
      in the config.sys before PROTMAN.DOS. Edit the config.sys to load 
      PROTMAN.DOS before E100ISA.DOS. See sample CONFIG.SYS below. 


   Using E100ISA.DOS PROTOCOL.INI KEYWORD Options
  ----------------------------------------------
  There are several keywords that are supported when loading the
  EtherExpress PRO/100 ISA driver. Please see the README file titled 
  PRO/100 ISA DRIVER KEYWORDS for detailed information. For example:

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
