-----------------------------------------------------------
2. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

2.1 Operating System
The software and/or drivers provided on the diskettes
can be installed on the following operating systems:

    * Windows 95 and Windows NT version 4.0 or higher.
    * MS-DOS compatible systems

To install the software on your computer, select the
appropriate diskette for your operating system.

2.2 Free Disk Space
To install and run the software you will need 2 MB
    of free disk space.

2.3 4MB RAM (8MB or more is recommended for Windows 95
     and/or Windows NT Operating systems).

2.4 Additional Requirements
To install/run the WaveMANAGER/CLIENT, you will need a
    computing device that:
    * Runs the Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows NT
       operating system.
    * Has the WaveLAN Miniport Driver installed
       (version 1.17 or higher)
If your computer does not have the correct driver
installed, the WaveMANAGER/CLIENT will not work.
In that case, you will see a pop-up error message
that reads 'DRIVER NOT FOUND' and will prompt you
to (re)-install the correct WaveLAN Miniport Driver.

Note: Miniport Drivers are designed to run under the
Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows NT Operating
             Systems.
As Windows for Workgroups (v.3.x) runs on the
MS-DOS operating system, you can not use the
WaveMANAGER/CLIENT program in a Windows for
             Workgroup environment.

-----------------------------------------------------------
3. NEW IN THIS RELEASE

3.1 Year 2000 Compliancy

This release contains updated versions of the WaveLAN
Diagnostic tools. The software has been modified to
to write the date of measurement results in 4-character
    date fields.

3.2 Installshield Installation for WaveMANAGER/CLIENT

This release contains an automated installation
    procedure for the WaveMANAGER/CLIENT program
(Windows 95 and Windows NT Systems only).

The installshield setup.exe program will automatically
copy the program files to the harddisk drive, and
create the icons on the Windows taskbar.

-----------------------------------------------------------
4. INSTALLATION NOTES

4.1 Standard Installation
Installation procedures are described in the 'Getting
Started Guide' or 'User's Guide' that came with your
WaveLAN product. Please refer to these documents for
information about installing and configuring your
    WaveLAN product.
WaveLAN User documentation is also available in
electronic format on the WaveLAN Web Site
    (http://www.wavelan.com)
You can download the documentation in Adobe's Acrobat
Portable Document Format (PDF). To view or print PDF
files you will need the freeware Acrobat Reader that
can be downloaded from the Adobe Web Site
    (http://www.adobe.com/acrobat)

-----------------------------------------------------------
5. TECHNICAL CONSTRAINTS

5.1 WaveMANAGER/CLIENT Site Monitor
Description: The Site Monitor option of the
                 WaveMANAGER/CLIENT program does not work
on stations equipped with a WaveLAN/ISA
                 Card.

                 Although WaveLAN/ISA cards support the
                 'autoconnect' to WavePOINT access points,
the hardware design of these cards does
                 not support the full 'Roaming
Functionality' that is required to run the
                 Site Monitor tool.
Therefor it is not possible to run the
Site Monitor on computing devices equipped
                 with WaveLAN/ISA cards.

Impact: For this type of stations the Site Monitor
                 Selector will be 'greyed out'.

Action: Typically site verifications are performed
                 using portable computing devices. Today's
portable devices are usually equipped with
one or more PC Card slots.
Use a station equipped with WaveLAN/PCMCIA
to run Site Monitor, or use the Link Test
                 option to validate radio performance.

5.2 MS-DOS ODI Drivers and Protocol Stack
Description: As the ODI driver is built to include
                 the latest NetWare technologies, it
                 requires an up-to-date protocol stack:

                 * LSL should be version 2.11 or higher
                 * IPXODI, NETX or the VLMs should be of
                    the same level.

LSL and IPXODI are included with the
                 Netware VLM protocol stack update
(see section 1.3 of this document).
NETX is not included with this software!

To use new functions in the ODI driver,
and to optimize the usage of conventional
                 memory, using VLMs is recommended.

Impact: When the WaveLAN install program is being
run, you will be promped for Netx or VLM.

Action: Select the same network shell as the one
you selected during the installation of
                 your Netware Network Operating System.

As this version of the NetWare protocol
stack may not yet be available at your
location, we have provided the latest
update of this software on the WaveLAN
                 installation diskette.
Execute the file VLMUP.BAT (available in
subdirectory VLM of the diskette) to
                 extract all NetWare information.
This file and was also copied to your
hard disk during the install process.

Read VLMUP4.TXT for information on how
to install this software. If you do not
have the Novell VLM stack implemented,
                 run the standard Novell Client
                 Installation program as provided with
                 your NetWare Operating System before
doing this upgrade, or copy only LSL.COM
                 and IPXODI.COM from these updates.

5.3 Multiple WaveLAN Cards

Description: The WaveLAN Miniport Driver will support
                 only one WaveLAN card.
Impact: You can not use multiple WaveLAN Adapter
                 cards in one computing device.

Action: When you would need this functionality
for example to setup a computer-based
                 bridge (using dedicated bridge software)
                 consider installing the computer-based
bridge running in a MS-DOS environment
using the WaveLAN drivers for MS-DOS
                 operating systems.
-----------------------------------------------------------
6. KNOWN ISSUES
At the time of release of this software, the following
    problems remain to be solved:

6.1 System Power Management.
Description: The Power Management of your system may
interfere with the correct operation of
                 some applications.

Impact: Applications appear to be hang-up

Action: If an application appears to be hanging,
you may try to remove and re-insert the
                 WaveLAN/PCMCIA card.
If this problem occurs regularly, it is
advised to disable your system's Power
                 Management.

6.2 MS-DOS: OEMSETUP.INF and IBM DOS Requester
Description: The file OEMSETUP.INF supplied on the
diskette for MS-DOS Systems is not
                 compatible with IBM DOS Requester.

The file OEMSETUP.INF available on the
disk is suitable only for use with
                 Microsoft Windows for Workgroups.

Impact: For IBM DOS Requestor you will need
to create a new, compatible OEMSETUP.INF
                 file.

Action: On the disk there is also a file called
                 OEMSETUP.IBM. Use the 'Copy' command
to rename this file to OEMSETUP.INF.
                 This will overwrite the file
                 that was compatible with Microsoft
                 Windows for Workgroups.

Use the 'new' OEMSETUP.INF file for
                 installation with IBM DOS Requester.

To make this disk suitable for again for
                 installation under Windows for Workgroups
                 copy OEMSETUP.WFW back to OEMSETUP.INF.
