This README.TXT covers information that was not yet known 
or available when the user documentation shipped with this 
was written. This text file includes update information, 
additional installation instructions, limitations to the 
current version of the product, and suggestions to solve
known issues or problems.

1.  SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION

1.1 Description

    This software is officially released and supported 
    software of Lucent Technologies Inc. 
    This software contains the WaveMANAGER/CLIENT IEEE
    program and associated helpfiles for installation
    on Windows 95 and Windows NT Operating systems
    

1.2 Directory tree
    The following directory tree will be created in the
    directory specified during setup:

    ...\WaveLAN\WaveMANAGER\CLIENT IEEE
                           \LOG
1.3 Files Installed
    The following files will be installed in the directory
    ..\CLIENT IEEE during setup:

    WMAN_CL.EXE
    WMAN_CL.HLP
    WMAN_CL.CNT
    README.TXT

2.  SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

2.1 Operating System
    The software and/or drivers provided on the diskettes
    can be installed on the following operating systems:
    
    * Windows 95 and Windows NT version 4.0 or higher.

    To install the software on your computer, select the 
    diskette for Windows 95 and Windows NT, and double-
    click the file 'setup.exe'.

2.2 Free Disk Space
    To install and run the software you will need 2 MB
    of free disk space.

2.3  4MB RAM (8MB or more is recommended for Windows 95 
     and/or Windows NT Operating systems).

2.4 Additional Requirements
    To install/run the WaveMANAGER CLIENT IEEE, you will
    need a computing device that:
    *  Has the WVLAN41 Driver installed 
       If your computer does not have the correct driver
       installed, the WaveMANAGER CLIENT IEEE will not work. 
       In that case, you will see a pop-up error message
       that reads 'DRIVER NOT FOUND' and  will prompt you
       to (re)-install the correct WaveLAN Miniport Driver.

       Note: Miniport Drivers are designed to run under the
             Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows NT Operating
             Systems. 
             As Windows for Workgroups (v.3.x) runs on the
             MS-DOS operating system, you can not use the
             WaveMANAGER CLIENT IEEE program in a Windows
             for Workgroup environment.

4.  INSTALLATION NOTES

4.1 Standard Installation
    Installation procedures are described in the 'Getting
    Started Guide' or 'User's Guide' that came with your
    WaveLAN product. Please refer to these documents for 
    information about installing and configuring your 
    WaveLAN product.
    WaveLAN User documentation is also available in 
    electronic format on the WaveLAN Web Site
    (http://www.wavelan.com)
    You can download the documentation in Adobe's Acrobat
    Portable Document Format (PDF). To view or print PDF
    files you will need the freeware Acrobat Reader that 
    can be downloaded from the Adobe Web Site 
    (http://www.adobe.com/acrobat)

5.  TECHNICAL CONSTRAINTS

5.1 WaveMANAGER/CLIENT Site Monitor not implemented.
    This function is not yet implemented.

    On the WaveLAN Web Site you can find the most recent
    device drivers, bridge firmware, software updates and 
    user documentation.

    If you encounter problems when installing or using this
    product, or would like information about our other 
    WaveLAN products, please contact your local Authorized

    Technologies Sales offices are listed on our WaveLAN 
    Web Site.

    When contacting WaveLAN Technical Support, please use 
    the Problem Report Form and send it to us by Fax or 
    E-Mail. The Problem Report Form 'REPORT.TXT'
    (Plain text format) is included with the software 
    diskette, or downloaded set of files.
    Alternatively, you can download the Problem Report Form
    from the WaveLAN Web Site.

    Include Product Name, Serial Number and software 
    version number with each request to help the WaveLAN
    Support Group helping you.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
