Driver removal procedure.

Win95/98:
- Boot the PC with the Aironet card inserted into the system.
- Bring up the Control Panel then click on System.
- Choose the Device Manager tab and find the Aironet device located in the Network Adapter catagory, then click on Remove. If asked to Restart say "NO"
- Exit out of this window. 
- Using Explorer or a DOS prompt delete the following files:
Windows 95/98
\windows\system\pc4800.sys
\windows\inf\pc4800.inf
\windows\system\vxdx500.vxd
Windows 98
\windows\inf\other\aironetpc4800.inf

- After those files are deleted do a restart of the system.
- When restarted it will find new hardware and prompt for the driver location.
- Install the driver as normal with the NEW driver that was acquired on the Web site or emailed to you by Technical Support.

WinNT:
- Boot the PC with the Aironet card inserted into the system
- Bring up the Control Panel->Network icon.
- Under Network Adapters highlight the Aironet Adapter and click on remove.
- Do not restart if prompted.
- Delete the following files:
\windows\system32\drivers\pc4800.sys
\windows\system32\pc4800.dll
\windows\system32\vxdx500.vxd

- restart the system and install the card with the NEW driver acquired from the Aironet Web site or emailed from TechnciaL Support.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
