Version 1.2.3, December 30, 1998
- Fixed a bug that the captured video displayed in wrong format 
  when output to televsion if driver has re-installed.
- Fix a bug that VGA overlay has been suspended while doing capture 
  even set "Display When Capturing" on.

Version 1.2.2, December 16, 1998
- Fixed a bug that cannot support VGA overlay function with the 
  following VGA cards. This has been certified under 800x600 
  16-bit high color mode in our lab.

  ratio to 4:1 in PAL.

- Previously there were horizontal static lines that appeared in the
  magenta color bar. This problem has been resolved.

* Important Notes
----------------------------------------
- IF HAS VGA OVERLAY BUT NOTHING OUTPUT TO YOUR TELEVISION...
  This might happen when you re-installed your VGA driver after MV-300
driver has installed. If you has occurred this problem, please
re-install the MV-300 driver again.

- IF NO VGA OVERLAY AND NOTHING OUTPUT TO YOUR TELEVISION...
  As for the overlay support, it depends on your VGA card and the 
display mode you selected. Not all display modes supports this
overlay function even in the same card. If you have this problem, it
may because of your VGA display mode was not set properly. In most 
case, overlay function can be supported under display mode which is
800 x 600 16-bit high color. For how to fix it, please refer to 
next section in this README.TXT file, Video Capture Q&A.
 
- PATCHING THE ULEAD MEDIASTUDIO PRO 5.02 VE...
  In this Version of Ulead MediaStudio Pro 5.02 VE, you MUST execute 
the PATCH program from the "AVerMedia MV-300 Patch Disk" (Disk 2). 
After doing this, it will playback video smoothly when using 
SmartRender (in Video Editor) to Preview a video project with 
multiple clips and transition effects. 
 
- DIRECTX 5.0 IS REQUIRED....
  For better performance, MV-300 requires DirectX support.
To check if you have DirectX drivers installed on your system, 
go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs icon, click on the 
Install/Uninstall Tab. See if "DirectX Drivers" is listed in 
the Installed Programs Window. If it is not, you need to install 
the DirectX drivers. 
You can get DirectX executable files from your VGA Card 
Installation Disk. 
Or go to the Microsoft Website to download the zip file for free.
Use the keyword "DirectX" to help search for the file.


- ONLY MJPEG AVI FILES CAPTURED BY THE MV-300 WILL OUTPUT TO YOUR 
  TELEVISION WHEN PALYING BACK...
  An AVI file may be captured by using different video codec drivers. 
For example, an AVI file may be captured with the MV-300 using MJPEG, 
RGB or YUV capture formats. You may playback a captured AVI file and 
view it with your VGA display under Microsoft Windows 95, however, 
ONLY MJPEG AVI FILES YOU CAPTURED WITH THE MV-300 CAN BE SEEN ON 
TELEVISION THROUGH THE "VIDEO OUT" CONNECTION ON THE MV-300 CARD. 
If you need TV output for a non-MJPEG format AVI file, you should use 
Ulead Video Editor to first convert the file to MJPEG file format.

* Working with Ulead MediaStudio Pro 5.x Video Edition
------------------------------------------------------
I. Video Capture
  Q. I cannot select 'Overlay' from within the 'View' menu. 
     What can I do?
  A. There are two possible things to try :
     1) Check your 'Color palette' in the 'Settings' tab from the 
        'Display' icon in the 'Control Panel'. Select 16-bit High 
	Color if the current setting is 16 or 256 colors.
     2) Set the display resolution to 800 x 600.
     3) If the above method doesn't work, try to remove the MV-300 
	driver and re-install it again.

  Q. I capture 100% of the Video but the Audio does not get captured. 
     What can I do?
  A. The Ulead MediaStudio Pro 5.x VE default is not set to capture 
     audio with video.
     Go to "Capture\Video...", check "Capture audio" on.

  Q. I always got a lot of frames drop when capturing video. Why?
  A. You may not set to the proper frame rate before capturing.
     Go to "Capture\Video...", select 'Options' tab, set "Frame rate"
     to the right one. For example, set 25 Frames/Sec for PAL, and set
     30 Frames/Sec for NTSC. 


II. Video Editor
  Q. A zig-zag pattern appears when I preview a video project.
  A. We recommend that you to go to 'Preview Options', select the 
     'Video Editor' tab, choose 'Frame-based' from within 'Frame type'
     drop-down list.

  Q. After I created a video project with some video clips and have 
     added transition effects, why doesn't video Preview play back 
     smoothly?
  A. We recommand you execute the patch program from Patch Disk.
     If you are using an older MV-300 driver than Version 1.1.0, 
     download the new driver from AVerMedia Systems web site to update.

  Q. When using the 'Preview' function, it displays the message 
     'Unable to Compress Video'.
  A. Be careful to set the correct parameters in 'Preview Options' 
     before you use the preview function. The 'frame size' MUST be 
     properly set. The width should be set to multiples of 16 and the 
     height should be set to multiples of 8. For example, you can set 
     the frame size to '640 x 480' where 640 = 16 x 40 and 
     480 = 8 x 60.

  Q. When using the 'Preview' function, it looks quite slowly during
     Video Editor preparing your video project in the first time.
  A. Go to 'Preview Options', select 'Compression' tab, choose 
     'AVerMedia MV-300 MJPEG Capture/Codec Driver' for 'Compression'
     item.

  Q. After I have created a video project (file), why can't I play 
     it back?
  A. Choose 'Properties...' from the 'File' menu.  Select the
     'Attributes' tab. Make sure the settings match your 
     video project's original settings. For example, TV Standard, 
     Frame rate and Frame sizes should all match the settings when 
     you recoded your project.

* Known Restrictions/Anomalies
----------------------------------------
1. If you are Using an AGP VGA display card, the Video Editor preview
   window may not fit into the right position. This happens only when 
   the Ulead Video Editor program is open and while the Video Capture
   program is still running.
   AVerMedia System has recognized this problem and will remedy it in 
   the next release. We recommend to close both Video Editor and 
   Video Capture programs. Then ONLY re-open the Ulead Video Editor
   again. It's OK if you only run the Video Editor.

2. If you captured an AVI file that exceeds 1 GB, it can only be 
   played up to 1 GB. This problem is a known limitation of Microsoft 
   Video for Windows API. AVerMedia Systems is also working with Ulead
   to solve this problem. We suggest not capturing video larger than 
   1GB in current version of Ulead MediaStudio Pro 5.02 VE. However, 
   you can still edit this AVI file with Ulead Video Editor.

* Troubleshooting Tips
----------------------------------------
1. How to reinstall drivers...
   a) Go to Control Panel\Multimedia\Advanced
   b) Click Video Capture Device
   c) Remove the AVerMedia MV-300 Motion JPEG Video Editing Card
   d) Go to Control Panel\System\Device Manager
   e) Click Sound, video and game controllers
   f) Remove AVerMedia MV-300
   g) Restart your system
   h) After system startup, the dialog box will display "PCI Multimedia Device"
   i) insert 'AVerMedia MV-300 Installation Disk' into drive A:
   j) click OK to let your system complete the installation
   k) Restart your system again


2. If the driver does not work properly, try to...
   a) make sure neither the Video Capture nor the Video Editor 
      program is running
   b) remove MV300.INI from your windows folder
   c) execute the Video Capture or Video Editor program again

3. If the problem persists, try to...
   a) remove the driver completely and then re-install it again.
   b) following the complete instructions list in Tips 1.
   c) read the next section for how to report your problem to us.

* Reporting Problems And Suggestions
----------------------------------------
If you have a problem that you cannot solve, please provide 
the following information when contacting AVerMedia System :

1. System configuration (Processor, Memory, Number of IDE/SCSI 
   Hard disks/CDROM Drives, etc.). From Device Manager in Windows 95
   also note the resources (Memory, IRQ & DMA) used by this device.

2. Information about VGA Card, including manufacturer, chip vendor, and 
   the size of video memory.

3. SYSTEM.INI file.

4. Registry entries in 
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlset\Control\MediaResources\msvideo\
   The value required is "TrackingVersion".

5. Symptoms, such as what is displayed during or after configuration,
   etc..
