Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. 2205 Woodale Drive Mounds View, MN 55112 1. Installation Guide for MultiTech's 5634HD8/16 modem cards for Windows NT : ----------------------------------------------------------- In this document "ISICOM card" refers to Intelligent-Serial-Interface(ISI) cards available from Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. For example it can be ISI608, 5634HD8, 5634HD16 or ISI4608 etc. With the ISICOM Driver for Windows NT, you can install ISICOM in Windows NT operating system and use the ports of ISICOM for the use of Remote Access Service (RAS) server. The driver is tested with PPP and NetBios protocols under RAS. 2. Hardware Description : -------------------- When Installing the driver software in Windows NT environment, you need a unique I/O base address and an Interrupt Vector (IRQ) which is not used by any other hardware in your system. On the commplete communication server the cards one, two, and three are preset at these locations respectivly, IO 210 - IRQ 10, IO 220 - IRQ 11, IO 230 - IRQ 12, These are not configurable and should be installed at these locations. 3. How to install the driver ------------------------- Administrator can create Keys at most levels in the Registry, so it is required that Administrator should perform the installation. Run Setup.Exe from the install disk, which will guide you for the rest of the installation. At the end of the installation, a Control Panel Applet will come up which will help you to configure the ISICOM card. Choose the I/O address, IRQs and Number of ports for each card. On the commplete communication server the cards one, two, and three are preset at these locations respectivly, IO 210 - IRQ 10, IO 220 - IRQ 11, IO 230 - IRQ 12. This would complete the ISICOM installation. This will be using the default mapping for ISICOM ports. If you want to override it you can change the port mappings. You need to reboot the system to make the changes come into effect. After rebooting you can check with EventViewer to see if the ISICOM driver loaded successfully. 4. Port Mappings ------------- In order for the Windows NT server to access the ports of ISICOM board, you need to map each port as a COM port. The installation program provided by Multi-Tech will detect all the COM ports that are already activated in the system and will present you with an automatic enumeration of COM port mappings for the ports of ISICOM. You can choose to go with this "automatic enumeration" or you can enter the COM port names for each port. In case you are mapping the ports yourself make sure that the mappings does not conflict with each other. 5. Instructions for loading modem drivers on Commplete Communications Server running Windows NT A. Copy the 5634HD8.INF (located in the NT9600.exe self extracting file) file to the C:\WINNT\INF directory. B. Install your modem in Control Panel/Modems. C. Reboot your server. You will now have all of your modems installed. You can use the modems with any communications application within NT (RAS, SAPS, etc). 5. Configuring RAS --------------- You can configure each port of ISICOM for RAS, by choosing "Main" --> "Control Panel" ---> "Network"----> Choose "RAS" in the software box and select configure.
