- TWAIN Driver
- WIA Driver
- Others
=================================================================
II. APPLICATION NOTES
1. CorelDRAW--When printing a file to letter-size
media, select Fit to Paper in the Output Paper
Size section on the Paper tab. If you do not
select Fit to Paper, the image will be cut off
on one side.
2. DOS--The DOS copy and print commands are not
supported.
3. MS Word--Word does not allow users to print a
saved document in a different paper size because
it passes its default paper size to the printer
driver. Take the following steps to print a
document in a specified paper size:
i. In Word go to File/Page Setup and make
sure that the specified paper size is
selected under Paper Size.
ii. In Word go to File/Print and click the
Properties button of the magicolor 2480 MF.
iii. Select the Paper tab. Check "Fit to Paper"
and select the specified paper size from the
Output Paper Size drop-down list.
4. MS Internet Explorer 5.0--A SPOOL32 crash may be
experienced when printing web pages containing java
related data. Printing cannot be continued although
the document can be saved. You must restart the
printer to resume the printing job. Recommend to
upgrade IE 5.0 to IE 5.5 or higher to avoid this
problem.
5. Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0--Dashed lines may not be
imaged when printing pdf files. Recommend to upgrade
to Acrobat Reader 5.0 to resolve this problem.
6. Adobe PageMaker 6.5--The color separation (C,M,Y,K)
function may not function correctly depending on
image data. When the K plane prints in color,
please use the "B/W" setting instead of the "Color"
setting on the Quality tab.
7. Lotus Approach 9.6.1--When Print Properties is
opened, the layout of the driver preferences
collapses.
=================================================================
III. ERROR MESSAGES
1. Invalid Printer Name--An error message may be
displayed when installing the printer driver. Please
remove any preceding and following spaces from the
printer name text string to resolve this problem.
2. Print Outside Printable Area (Windows 98SE)--Attempting
to print a document with margins set outside printable
area will prompt the warning message dialog box: "The
margins of section 1 are set outside the printable
area of the page. Do you want to continue?". Please
take the following steps:
. If selecting "No" prompts an error message dialog
box and the print queue shows an error status,
please click "OK" in the error message dialog box.
You should be able to cancel and clear the print
job in the print queue.
. If selecting "No" does not prompt the error message
dialog box, you cannot cancel nor print the job
and the print queue will show an error status. Please
reboot your PC and remove the job in the print
queue manually by clicking "Purge Print Documents"
from the [File] menu while selecting the magicolor
2480 MF printer icon in the [Prints]folder. You
should be able to cancel and clear the print job
in the print queue.

IV. PRINTER DRIVER
1. Collation--Depending on your application, you need to
select collation on the printer driver in order to get
the desired printing results. Failure to do so will
cause unpredictable results to occur. For example, if
you have the following application setup:
. A duplex print job with Booklet Left Binding or
Booklet Right Binding selected as the Duplex/Booklet
option on the Setup tab. If collation is selected
at the application level it will cause the pages to
print out of order. As such, do not select collation
in the application. Instead, select collation at the
printer driver level.
. A collated, multiple copies print job. If "copies"
and "collation" are selected by the application, "copies"
will not work properly. You need to select "collation"
at the printer driver in order for "copies" to function
properly.
. Watermark or Form Overlays in WORD. If collation is
not selected at the printer driver, it will cause the
Watermark to print only on the first page of the first
copy.
2. Defaults--When adding or removing an option on the
"Device Options Setting" tab, all the print driver
configuration settings except for the "Copies" and
"Scaling" settings are automatically reset to their
default settings.
3. Installation (Windows XP)--Due to a Windows limitation,
when a second magicolor 2480 MF printer driver is
installed, the printer name in the Printers folder is
identified as (Copy 1) rather than (Copy 2).
4. Installation (Windows 98SE/Me)--When upgrading to a
newer version of the driver, you need to first uninstall
the older version before installing the new version.
5. Installation (Windows XP SP2)--When installing the
driver from the Installer CD, you may encounter a
"Windows Security Alert" message appearing on your
screen. Please select to "Unblock" the Installer
program from the WinXP SP2 firewall.
6. Installation--It is possible that when you install the
printer driver using setup.exe, you may encounter the
Plug-and-Play wizard to pop-up. This pop-up message
will be appear after the "Detecting Connection..."
dialog box is displayed and you attach your USB cable
to the 2480MF.
7. Installation (Windows Me)--During the process of
installation, the PC will initially install the scanner
driver followed by the printer driver. It is possible
that when the Plug-and-Play wizard for the printer
driver is displayed, it will default to LPT1 for the
printer port. You would need to change the printer
port to USB in order to install the printer driver
properly. Failing to do this may cause the PC to
display the error "Printer detection failed..."
8. Installation--The Printer Name must contain 48 or fewer
characters. The default name is KONICA MINOLTA magicolor
2480MF.
9. Features (Windows 2000/XP/2003)--It is possible
that you may have some driver features unavailable
such as Edit Custom Paper Size, Edit Form Overlay,
Edit Watermark and Easy Set Save. These features
are available when the user is logged in as
Administrator.
10. Overlays--Overlay files are created as color documents.
Therefore, even if you select monochrome printing
(B/W on the Quality tab), the overlay prints in color.
If you want a monochrome overlay file, you must create
it selecting B/W printing and save it as an overlay
file (Edit Form Overlay button on the Paper tab).
11. Overlays--Overlay files must be printed at the same
resolution at which they were created. In other
words, if you create an overlay file at 600 dpi, any
documents with which you use this overlay should
also be printed at 600 dpi. If you print the overlay
at a different resolution, it is automatically
resized and, therefore, placed incorrectly on the
printed pages.
12. Overlays--Overlay files (*.prn) must be created with
the magicolor 2480 MF driver. If you try to
use an overlay file created with another driver,
the file may not print.
13. Overlays--Printing a file with an overlay uses twice
the virtual memory of regular printing. Therefore, it
is recommended that you increase your PC's virtual
memory.
14. Sharing--If you uninstall a printer driver for a
shared printer under Windows 98SE/Me and then
reinstall the printer driver, the new printer driver
is automatically shared. If you do not want to share
this printer driver, you must go in and manually
unshare it.
15. Uninstallation (Windows 98SE/Me)--If you uninstall the
printer driver, you must restart the PC to complete
the uninstallation. Otherwise, some files are locked
by the Windows operating system and therefore cannot
be deleted.
16. Page Orientation--When a Word document with mixed page
orientation is printed by Booklet, the second page
rotates by 180 degrees. For example, a 3-page document
with Landscape, Portrait and Landscape orientation set
for the first, second and third page respectively would
have the second page rotated.
17. Job Cancellation--When a printer job is cancelled through
the spooler window, the printer will print some additional
pages before the cancellation takes effect. Depending
on the size and complexity of the job, it is possible that
the job cancellation may not occur until all the pages
are printed.

V. TWAIN DRIVER
1. Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)--It is possible that you
might not be able to use the ADF in case you launch the
scanner driver from your application during warm-up.
Should this be the case, you will need to close the
scanner driver window from the application and then launch
it again after completing warm-up.
2. Automatic Document Feeder (ADF)--When using Adobe
Acrobat 5.0, you may not be able to scan multiple pages
from the ADF.
3. USB 2.0--It is possible that if you have USB 2.0 running
on Windows 98/Me, your scanner driver may not work.
4. Monochrome Scan--In Microsoft WORD or Microsoft Excel, it
is possible that the monochrome scan function may not be
available. Should this be the case, you will need to
scan the image in color then click on the image and set
"Grayscale" in "Format Picture".
=================================================================
VI. WIA DRIVER
1. Immediately after installing the WIA driver, if you go to
Microsoft WORD or Microsoft Excel and perform a scan or
preview operation, you may encounter errors. If you
encounter such case, please restart your application.
=================================================================
VII. OTHERS
1. Pictbridge--If you send a print job from your PC while
the 2480MF is printing a job from your camera, you may
encounter some printing errors. You will need to wait for
your Pictbridge job to complete before sending a print job
from your PC.
2. Toner Replacement--Errors may occur if you open the ADF
cover during the process of changing your toner. You
should not open the ADF cover while replacing your toner.
3. Copy Job--When using the collate function in a copy
operation, the LED light in the START button might turn
orange. When you encounter such a case please depress
the STOP button.
4. Operation Panel--If you switch language settings to Japanese
on non-Japanese 2480MFs, you will get garbled characters
displayed on the Operation Panel. To switch back to
the English language setting, please refer to instructions
found in the Manuals folder of your Installer CD under the
file OPRPANELRESET.pdf
