Imation SuperDisk Parallel Port Drivers for Windows 2000/XP

READ THIS FIRST BEFORE YOU INSTALL THIS DRIVER

NOTE: THE IMATION PARALLEL PORT SUPERDISK(TM) DRIVE IS OUT OF PRODUCTION. 
THESE DRIVERS ARE BEING PROVIDED FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE IN MAINTAINING YOUR 
IMATION SUPERDISK DRIVE WITH NEWER OPERATING SYSTEMS. WHILE THESE DRIVERS 
ARE EXPECTED TO OPERATE SUCCESSFULLY, THEY ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK 
IN ALL SYSTEMS. CERTAIN CONFIGURATIONS OF HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE MAY 
EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS. THEREFORE, IF YOU CHOOSE TO INSTALL THIS VERSION, YOU 
ARE DOING SO AT YOUR OWN RISK AND EXPRESSLY AGREE THAT IMATION HAS NO 
LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE RESULTING FROM THE USE OF 
THIS DRIVER.

IMATION HAS DISCONTINUED MANUFACTURING SUPERDISK DRIVES. NO ADDITIONAL 
INFORMATION BEYOND WHAT IS INCLUDED HERE IS AVAILABLE TO SUPPORT 
PROBLEMS WITH DRIVERS. CALLS TO IMATION CUSTOMER CARE FOR PRODUCTS OUT 
OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD WILL BE HANDLED ON A $30 PER INCIDENT BASIS.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

DO THIS FIRST: IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU GO INTO THE BIOS OF THE COMPUTER AND 
SET THE PARALLEL PORT MODE TO EPP.  THIS SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE INSTALLING 
THE DRIVER FOR EITHER WINDOWS 2000 OR XP.

Set-up Steps for WINDOWS 2000:

Please follow these set-up procedures first for Windows 2000 only (Windows XP 
has separate instructions that follow). Once these set-up steps have been 
completed, proceed to the Installation Instructions Windows 2000.

1. Unzip the drivers and either put them on a floppy disk or into an empty 
   folder that is easy to navigate to again. The folder or floppy must have the 
   files EPLSW2K.INF and EPLSW2K.SYS and should have this Installation Readme 
   file as well. 

2. Prepare the system for accepting a parallel port drive as a plug and play 
   device
   a. Right-click on My Computer, then choose Properties from the drop-down menu
   b. Click on the Device Manager button
   c. Double click on Ports (COM &LPT)
   d. Double click on Printer Port (LPT1)
   e. Select the tab Port Settings
   f. Click on "Use any interrupt assigned to the port" if not already selected
   g. Check the box "Enable legacy Plug and Play detection"
   h. Click OK 
   i. Select the Driver Signings option (found to the left of the Device Manager 
      option)
   j. Select either the "Warn - Display a message before installing an unsigned 
      file" or "Ignore"
   k. Install all files regardless of signing (Note: These drivers have not been 
      digitally signed and will not install unless your system is setup to allow 
      the installation of unsigned drivers)
   l. Click OK 

3. Apply power to the parallel port drive, connect the parallel port interface cable 
   to the drive and to the computer 

Installation Instructions for WINDOWS 2000

Note: If your drive has never been connected to the system skip to step three. If the 
drive has been connected to the system before and is seen under Other Devices (see 
step two) follow the steps below:

1. Go to Device Manager
   Right-click on My Computer 
   Go to Properties
   Click on the Hardware Tab and then click on the Device Manager button

2. In Device Manager under the Other Devices category you will see a device called 
   Shuttle Impact Rev #00 or VID***** (the item will start with VID followed by some 
   numbers)
   Remove this device

3. Restart the computer
   Once your system has rebooted, your system will find new hardware (this is the 
   SuperDisk drive)

4. The New Hardware Wizard appears and will ask, "What do you want the wizard to do?"
   Choose to "Search for a suitable driver for my device (recommended)" 
   Click on Next

5. Place a Check next to "Specify a Location"
   Deselect unnecessary check boxes
   Browse to the location of the extracted drivers

6. Click on Next and follow the instructions on the screen

7. After installation you should see a new 3 ½ drive letter in My Computer


Installation Instructions for WINDOWS XP 

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU GO INTO THE BIOS OF THE COMPUTER AND SET THE 
PARALLEL PORT MODE TO EPP.  THIS SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE INSTALLING THE 
DRIVER FOR WINDOWS XP.

Note: If your drive has never been connected to the system skip to step three. If 
the drive has been connected to the system before and is seen under Other Devices 
(see step two) follow the steps below:

1. Go to Device Manager
   Right-click on My Computer and then go to Properties
   Click on the Hardware Tab 
   Click on the Device Manager button

2. In Device Manager under the Other Devices category you will see a device called 
   Shuttle Impact Rev #00 or VID***** (the item will Start with VID followed by 
   some numbers)
   Remove this device
3. Restart the computer
   Once your system has rebooted, your system will find new hardware (this is the 
   SuperDisk drive)

4. When the New Hardware Wizard appears choose "Install from a list or specific 
   location (advanced)" 
   Click on Next

5. The option "Search for the best driver in these locations" should be selected
   Next select "Include this location in the search" 
   Deselect unnecessary check boxes
   Then browse to the location of the extracted drivers

6. Click the Finish button

7. After you click on Finish, the New Hardware Wizard will find a Matsushita LS-120 
   and a High Capacity Floppy drive. Note: it may lock up when it tries to load the 
   High Capacity Floppy drive; if your system locks up, just restart the system

8. After restart you should see a new 3 ½ drive letter in My Computer

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
