Hitachi CD-ROM Drive Firmware Upgrade Procedure 1. System Requirements Host: PC/AT compatible OS: DOS 3.X or higher Memory: Minimum 100 Kbytes free memory 2. Hardware Preparation 1) Connect the CD-ROM drive. 2) If a disc is in the drive, remove the disc before starting. 3. Firmware Update 1) Run the Flash Memory Update Utility as follows: C:\>FLASHUP <file name> <drive number> file name: Firmware File drive number: Specify the drive number as follows: 0: Primary / Master 1: Primary / Slave 2: Secondary / Master 3: Secondary / Slave 2)The following shows sample screen message: --------------------------------------------------------------- C:\>FLASHUP 78r0010.DLD 3 FLASH Memory Update Utility Rev.1.0 (C) Copyright reserved by Hitachi, Ltd 1995 The following Hitachi CD-ROM Drive has been detected: Product ID: CDR-7830 Firmware Revision: 0009 The following download file has been detected: File Name: 78r0010.dld Product ID: CDR-7830 Firmware Revision: 0010 The update utility will start updating FLASH Memory. Continuing will destroy the current contents of FLASH Memory. Would you like to continue the updating? [Y or N] y Updating FLASH Memory Now! FLASH Memory update has completed successfully. After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
