    First time installation from the install menu
    ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
         Start the NetWare Server.

          > CD \NWSERVER
          > SERVER

         Execute "LOAD INSTALL" after booting up. Type:

              LOAD INSTALL

         Select "Driver Options", -> "Configure network drivers", and
          -> "Select a driver".

         Press <Insert> key to install an unlisted driver.

         Please insert driver diskette into floppy disk drive.

         Press <F3> to specify a different <PATH>. <PATH> is directory
          which includes both C83815.LAN and C83815.LDI

              Ex. A:\NETWARE\SERVER\NW411

         Select "C83815.LAN ...".

         Choose the "Select/Modify driver parameters and protocols"
          selection and move the cursor to the C83815_1 parameters window
          to change the the slot number.

          A slot number must be entered before the installation can proceed.
          You can make the slot number 1. Even though the slot number may
          not be correct, the C83815.LAN driver automatically find the DP83815
          card and load the proper slot number.

          You do not have to enter any value for media and line speed or the
          Node address. The driver can use the default value for these

         Select "Save parameters and load driver" after configuring adapter
          setting.

         NetWare server will loading/binding driver automatically.

         After the driver has been loaded, check whether all the frame types
          you want are specified for this driver in AUTOEXEC.NCF.

    The other time installation from the install menu
    ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
         Start the NetWare Server.

          > CD \NWSERVER
          > SERVER

         Execute "LOAD INSTALL" after booting up. Type:

              LOAD INSTALL

         Select "Driver Options", -> "Configure network drivers", and
          -> "Select a driver".

         Select "C83815.LAN ..." in Select a driver window.

    Modifying an existing NetWare 4.11 Server
    ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
         Make a sub-directory NLMS.OLD under NWSERVER directory.

          Ex. >MD \NWSERVER\NLMS.OLD

         Save NBI.NLM, MSM.NLM and ETHERTSM.NLM to NLMS.OLD sub-directory.

         Please insert driver diskette into floppy disk drive.

         Copy all provided NLM and LAN files into your dos directory
          which includes SERVER.EXE.

          Ex. >COPY A:\NETWARE\SERVER\NW411\NBI.NLM C:\NWSERVER
              >COPY A:\NETWARE\SERVER\NW411\MSM.NLM C:\NWSERVER
              >COPY A:\NETWARE\SERVER\NW411\ETHERTSM.NLM C:\NWSERVER
              >COPY A:\NETWARE\SERVER\NW411\C83815.LAN C:\NWSERVER
              >COPY A:\NETWARE\SERVER\NW411\C83815.LDI C:\NWSERVER

         Start the NetWare Server.

          > CD \NWSERVER
          > SERVER

         From the Novell Server side, execute "LOAD INSTALL". Type:

              LOAD INSTALL

          Select <NCF files Options>
          Select <Edit AUTOEXEC.NCF file>

         Add the following commands into the server's AUTOEXEC.NCF file.

          Search Add C:\NWSERVER

          LOAD C:\NWSERVER\NBI.NLM
          LOAD C:\NWSERVER\MSM.NLM
          LOAD C:\NWSERVER\ETHERTSM.NLM

          LOAD C83815.LAN FRAME=Ethernet_802.3 NAME=C83815_1_E83
          BIND IPX C83815_1_E83 NET=1111

          LOAD C83815.LAN FRAME=Ethernet_802.2 NAME=C83815_1_E82
          BIND IPX C83815_1_E82 NET=1113

          LOAD C83815.LAN FRAME=Ethernet_II NAME=C83815_1_EII
          BIND IPX C83815_1_EII NET=1115

          LOAD C83815.LAN FRAME=Ethernet_SNAP NAME=C83815_1_ESP
          BIND IPX C83815_1_ESP NET=1117

         Restart the server again.

    Parameters setting for C83815.LAN
    ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ
        SLOT      1 - Forces the driver to search for the specified board

        LineSpeed   - Select connection type of the NSC DP83815 10/100 PCI
                      adapter card.
                        = 1     Auto-Negotiation
                        = 2     Line speed = 10
                        = 3     Line speed = 100

        FDUP        - Select the duplex mode of the adapter card.
                      This parameter works only when LineSpeed is not set
                      to Auto-Negotiation.
                        = 1     Full duplex on
                        = 2     Full duplex off

        Ex. LOAD C:\NOVELL\CLIENT32\C83815.LAN FRAME=ETHERNET_802.3 SLOT=1
            Note: SLOT must be the correct value as found by the driver.
        Ex. LOAD C:\NOVELL\CLIENT32\C83815.LAN LineSpeed=2 FDUP=1

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
