This Library driver is for the Exabyte Packetloader and Magnum series
working with the Native backup software on Windows2000, XP, and 2003.
If you use a commercial backup software package that provides
its own driver to support the PacketLoader, please do not install
this driver.

2. Windows2000 DRIVER InSTALLATION

  2-1.  PL Scsi

  1. Boot the machine to Windows2000.

  2. Click on Start / Settings / Control Panel, then double click
       the System icon. 

  3. Click on the Hardware tab then Click on the Device Manager 
       button. 

  4. In the list of devices you will see a device with name of "Unknown Medium Changer"
       in the "Medium Changers" category.
     (If the library is 1394(Firewire), you will see a device with name of "Exabyte VXA 1x10 1U"
       in the "Other devices" category.)

  5. Right click the device and click Properties.

  6. Click Driver tab on the properties dialog and click "Update Driver..." button.
       Or If there is, "Reinstall Driver..." button on General tab.

  7. The Upgrade Device Driver Wizard appears.  Click Next.

  8. Choose the second radio button, which says 
       "Search for a suitable driver for my device".  Click Next.

 10. Choose a location where the driver package is and Click Next.

 11. Wizard will find the driver in the specified location.  Click Next.

 12. Wizard installs the driver.
 
 13. The library driver is now installed. The Exabyte PacketLoader or Magnum should be listed
       under Medium Changers in the Device Manager window. 

 14. Reboot the system.

3. Known problem
   with 1394(Firewire) unit on Windows2000
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

  1. Native Backup software on Windows2000 doesn't see the device 
       as Windows doesn't support 1394 Medium changer device on Windows2000
       even this driver is loaded.

4. WindowsXP/2003 DRIVER INSTALLATION
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

  1. Boot the machine to WindowsXP/2003.

  2. Click on Start / Settings / Control Panel, then double click
       the System icon. 

  3. Click on the Hardware tab then Click on the Device Manager 
       button. 

  4. In the list of devices you will see a device with name of "Unknown Medium Changer"
       (If your library is 1394 (Firewire), then it shown as "PowerFile C200")
       in the "Medium Changers" device category.

  5. Right click the "unknown medium changer" or "PowerFile C200" and click "Update Driver...".

  6. The Upgrade Device Driver Wizard appears.

  7. Choose the second radio button, which says "Install from
       a list or specific location."  Click Next.

  8. Choose the second radio button, which says "Don't search.  I will choose
       the driver to install."  Click Next

  9. Click "Have Disk..." and this will show a dialog says "Install From Disk".
       Specify the location where you have the driver package (e.g., C:\temp)

 10. Wizard installs the driver.  After checking a message from 
       the Wizard, click Finish to close the Wizard.
 
 11. The library driver is now installed. The Exabyte PacketLoader/Magnum should be listed
       under Medium Changers in the Device Manager window. 

13. Reboot the system.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
