1.   WINDOWS 3.1 SUPPORT

1.1  Driver Installation

     To install the Alps Enhanced Keyboard driver for
     Windows 3.1 (including Windows 3.11 or Windows for
     Workgroups):

     - Insert the Alps driver disk in your floppy drive.

     - From the Program Manager's File menu, choose Run.
       Type A:\KB_WIN31\SETUP (or B: accordingly) and press
       the Enter key. Follow the instructions in the Setup
       program.

     - After the files are copied, the "System Settings
       Change" dialog will appear. Select "OK" to restart
       your computer.

1.2  Using the Enhanced Keyboard Control Panel

     - From the Program Manager, open the Alps program
       group, then double-click on Enhanced Keyboard
       Control Panel.

     - The Alps Enhanced Keyboard controls are grouped
       into six categories (Speed, Layout and Locks,
       Erase-Eaze, Left Windows Key, Right Windows Key
       and Application Key). Online Help is provided for
       all topics.

       NOTE: Some controls are not available with some
             keyboards.

     - When you are satisfied with your settings, click OK
       to close the Alps Enhanced Keyboard Control Panel.

1.3  Restoring Your Installation

     The Alps Enhanced Keyboard drivers are compatible
     with most standard keyboards. However, if you do change
     drivers to use another keyboard, you can restore the
     Alps Enhanced Keyboard installation (including your
     control panel settings) as follows:

     - If you have an "Alps" Program Group, double click on
       the Alps Enhanced Keyboard Setup icon and follow the
       directions in the Setup program.

     - If you DO NOT have an "Alps" Program Group, run your
       File Manager and open your Windows drive (typically
       drive C).

     - Locate SETUP.EXE in the \WINDOWS\ALPS\ENH_KBD folder
       (where \WINDOWS is your Windows directory) and double
       click it.

     - Follow the instructions in the Setup program.

1.4  Driver Un-Installation

     - If you have an "Alps" Program Group, double click on
       the Alps Enhanced Keyboard Un-Install icon and follow
       the directions in the Un-Install program.

     - If you DO NOT have an "Alps" Program Group, run your
       File Manager and open your Windows drive (typically
       drive C).

     - Locate UNINSTAL.EXE in the \WINDOWS\ALPS\ENH_KBD
       folder (where \WINDOWS is your Windows directory) and
       double click it.

     - Follow the instructions in the Un-Install program.

2.   DOS SUPPORT

     The Windows 3.1 Setup program described above will not
     change your current DOS configuration. Windows and
     Application keys are not supported under DOS.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
