1. Introduction

        This file is helping you to install and use this mouse on your
computer.  This installation process has two sections -- the hardware part
and the software part.  Information on how to run the mouse driver
automatically afterwards is also given.  If you do not automate these
actions, you will need to run the mouse driver every time you start your
computer.  This mouse driver program is about 12KB large, as big as most
mice's.  The last section of this file contains more information about
AMOUSE commands.


2. Mouse Installation -- Hardware Section

                   System Configuration Requirements

        To use this mouse on your computer, your machine should have:
A. At Least 256K System Memory (RAM): Most computers have a 640K or larger
   system memory, so you may not need to worry about this.
B. A RS-232 Serial Port or a PS/2 Port: Most serial ports are RS-232 and
   have either 9-pin or 25-pin connectors.  PS/2 ports are usually 6-Din.
   Ports are usually identified as COM1, COM2, and so on, by the computer.

                   Hardware Installation

        To do the hardware part, you need to
A. Turn off the computer.
B. Find the mouse port in the back of your computer and plug the mouse
   connector in.  If the pin number of the mouse port differs from the hole
   number of your mouse connector, use an adapter.


3. Mouse Installation -- Software Section

                   Software Installation

        Do the software part after finishing the hardware part.  In this
section you need to
A. Turn on the computer.
B. Put the mouse driver diskette that comes with this mouse into a floppy
   drive and type AMOUSE <enter> under the right prompt (A: or B:).  If
   your mouse is connected to a port other than COM1, type AMOUSE/# <enter>
   instead, where # is the right COM number; such as, AMOUSE/2, AMOUSE/3,
   and so on.
C. Type UTEST <enter> to start the test program to see if installation
   succeeds.

                   Trouble Shooting

        If the mouse does not work,
   *   check if the mouse is fastened to the right port properly; or
   *   redo the whole process including both hardware and software
       installation.  If it still does not work, call the seller for help.


4. Start the Mouse Automatically

        This paragraph is going to tell you how to make your computer
start the mouse automatically after installation.  If you do not do this
section, you will need to run the mouse driver every time you start your
computer.
        To start the mouse automatically, you need to
A. Copy file AMOUSE.COM from the mouse driver diskette to your hard disk by
   typing "copy A:amouse.com c: <return>" (or "copy B:amouse.com c:<return>",
   depending on which floppy drive you are using).
B. Add one line saying "AMOUSE" (or AMOUSE/#, where # is the right port
   number, if your mouse is not using COM1) to file AUTOEXEC.BAT through
   most word-processing software; such as PE2, Word Star, Word Perfect,
   Microsoft Word, and so on.  If file AUTOEXEC.BAT is not there, look up
   your DOS manual to find our how to create one.


5. More Information About the AMOUSE Command

        After finishing both hardware and software installation, type
"AMOUSE/?" for an AMOUSE command table.

                   About Command "AMOUSE/R#"

        This command is for adjusting resolution.  When you feel your mouse
moves sluggishly you may change the mouse's resolution to a higher mode.
The higher the resolution mode, the faster the cursor moves when you move
your mouse.  R0 means the computer will control the mouse's resolution
automatically.  R1 is the lowest resolution (the base mode) and R2 to R9
are times of resolution of the base mode.  In other words, R2 is a
resolution mode twice high as R1, R3 is a resolution mode three times high
as R1, and R9 is the highest resolution mode.

                   Other AMOUSE Commands

        AMOUSE/?, AMOUSE/H, or AMOUSE/h: for Help information.
        AMOUSE/#: Use when your mouse is not using COM1.
        AMOUSE/L: for converting your mouse to a left hand mode

        You may give more than one command at the same time without
worring about their sequence.  For example, "AMOUSE/2/R0/L" is the same as
"AMOUSE/L/2/R0" to the computer; both will work out the same results.
