Uninstall instructions:

These are instructions to completely uninstall the DeskScan II version 2.2
application from your computer:


  1) Make a backup copy of your CONFIG.SYS and WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI files.

  2) From DOS (not from a DOS shell under Windows) do the following:

     a) If either of these lines are present in your SYSTEM.INI file,
        remove them:

        DEVICE=...\WIN400I.386         For Windows version 3.1
        DEVICE=...\HPSCANR.386         For Windows version 3.1

		  [Note: "..." will usually be "C:\DESKSCAN" but may be a different
		   path depending on the directory and disk drive you told Setup to
			put DeskScan II into when you first installed it.]

     b) If any of the following lines are present in your CONFIG.SYS
        file, remove them:

        DEVICE=...\MINI400I.SYS
        DEVICE=...\SJIIX.SYS
        DEVICE=...\SJII.SYS
        DEVICE=...\SJDRIVER.SYS

		  [Note: "..." will usually be "C:\DESKSCAN" but may be a different
		   path depending on the directory and disk drive you told Setup to
			put DeskScan II into when you first installed it.]

     c) Delete the following file from your WINDOWS directory:
        HPDS22.INI

     d) Delete the following file from your WINDOWS\TWAIN directory:
        HPDS22.DS

     e) Delete all of the files in the directory where DeskScan II
        version 2.2 was installed.

     f) Remove the directory where DeskScan II version 2.2 was installed.

  3) From the Windows Program Manager:

     a) Delete the Program Manager Group where DeskScan II 2.2 was
        installed.  The DeskScan II icons will be removed automatically.

DeskScan II version 2.2 has been successfully removed from your computer.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
