The following statement is an important general issue regarding the installation and configuration of the Connection: * If you have a 2.x or older version of the Connection installed, you must uninstall it before installing the Connection version 3.2. If you have version 3.0 or later installed, you can install version 3.2 as an upgrade without uninstalling the previous version. * Remote installation from a terminal service session is not supported. ###################################################################### KNOWN ISSUES ###################################################################### NOTE: This section describes only the latest known issues for the Connection version 3.2. See "Frequently Asked Questions" in the "Dell OpenManage Connection for HP OpenView NNM User's Guide Version 3.2" for additional information about resolving possible issues. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Install Issues ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * If Connection 3.0 or 3.1 was installed even before installing Dell OpenManage Management station components and later upgraded to Connection 3.2, during uninstall of the Connection the "Dell Computer Corporation" key will be removed from the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software registry path. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Discovery Issues ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * The discovery of Dell systems across different subnets fails if the domain naming system (DNS) server is absent or improperly configured. * Systems installed with both HP OpenView NNM 6.4 and above and Dell OpenManage systems management software are not reclassified as Dell managed systems on the HP OpenView NNM submap. As a result, submap application launch, SNMP queries, and SNMP trap generation for Dell OpenManage systems management software are not available for these systems. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Status and Alerting Issues ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * If a Dell-discovered system (node) in the HP OpenView NNM submap has not been previously enumerated, an alert from that system may be received without a corresponding change in the HP OpenView NNM submap's global status. When this issue occurs, enumeration of the node map (by way of a mouse-click) results in proper propagation of the global status for this and all subsequent alerts received from the system. ###################################################################### HISTORY ###################################################################### This section provides historical information about the new features that were implemented in the previous version of Connection for HP OpenView NNM. ********************************************************************** DELL OPENMANAGE(TM) CONNECTION FOR HP OPENVIEW NNM Version 3.1 ********************************************************************** ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Release Highlights ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * Supports Windows version of HP OpenView NNM version 7.01. * The Connection supports Dell OpenManage Server Administrator version 1.9 (including the enhanced Storage Management Service 1.0). * The Connection supports Dell OpenManage Array Manager version 3.6. * The Connection supports Dell OpenManage IT Assistant Management Console version 6.5.2. * The Connection supports DRAC 4 event traps and the management of DRAC 4 through the RAC web console. * The Connection displays Platform Event Traps (PET) alerts embedded with the host name of the system generating the alert. * The Connection discovers and displays Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) IP addresses in the "Object Properties" window. ********************************************************************** DELL OPENMANAGE(TM) CONNECTION FOR HP OPENVIEW NNM Version 3.0 ********************************************************************** ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Release Highlights ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * Dell objects discovered by HP OpenView NNM were no longer populated into the Dell OpenManage IT Assistant database as one-to-one management is performed by using Dell OpenManage Server Administrator. * The Connection no longer installed Dell OpenManage systems management software applications.
