DELL OPENMANAGE(TM) CONNECTION FOR HP OPENVIEW NNM Version 3.0
######################################################################
This document contains the updated information for your "Dell
OpenManage Connection for HP OpenView NNM User's Guide Version 3.0".
For the latest version of this readme, see the Dell Support website
("support.dell.com").
NOTE: Some procedures described in this document require you to
specify file locations (paths) according to an example. All
example paths specified in this document refer to the default
file location. If you specify paths other than the defaults
during the installation, use those paths instead of the examples
specified in this document.
The following is an important general issue regarding the installation
and configuration of the Connection:
* If you have an older version of the Connection installed, you must
uninstall it before installing Connection 3.0.
======================================================================
Operating System Requirements
======================================================================
* Microsoft(R) Windows(R) operating system versions supported by HP
OpenView NNM versions 6.0-6.4.
=======================================================================
Key Differences Between Previous Versions of the Connection and
Version 3.0
=======================================================================
* Dell objects discovered by HP OpenView NNM are no longer populated
into the IT Assistant database. One-to-one management is performed
by using Dell OpenManage Server Administrator.
* The Connection no longer installs Dell OpenManage systems management
software applications. Applications must be installed separately to
be launched by the Connection.
* The Connection supports in context launch of Server Administrator,
as well as DRAC III, DRAC III/XT, ERA, and ERA/O
Web consoles.
* The Connection supports asset management (displays service tags and
asset tags for the discovered Dell systems).
* The in context launch of Dell OpenManage IT Assistant has been
replaced by the Server Administrator one-to-one management console.

Known Issues
=======================================================================
NOTE: This section describes only the latest known issues for Dell
OpenManage Connection for HP OpenView NNM Version 3.0. See the
"Frequently Asked Questions" section of the
"Dell OpenManage Connection for HP OpenView NNM User's Guide
Version 3.0" for additional information about resolving possible
issues.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Discovery Issues
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
* The discovery of Dell systems across different subnets fails if the domain
naming system (DNS) server is absent or improperly configured.
* Systems installed with both HP OpenView NNM 6.4 and Dell OpenManage
systems management software are not reclassified as Dell managed
systems on the NNM submap. As a result, submap application launch,
SNMP queries, and SNMP trap generation for Dell OpenManage systems
management software are not available for these systems.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Status and Alerting Issues
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
* If a Dell discovered system (node) in the NNM submap has not been
previously enumerated, an alert from that system may be received without
a corresponding change in the NNM submap's global status. When this issue
occurs, enumeration of the node map (by way of mouse-click) results in
proper propagation of the global status for this and all subsequent
alerts received from the system.
