Overview

After formatting or deleting and re-installing Windows, the monitor.inf file allows proper setup of the monitor. The Monitor.inf file allows the type of monitor to be selected and contains the color profiles for particular programs or devices, such as a monitor, color printer, or scanner. This profile is used by color management software. It translates color data from one device to another based on an independent color space. The result is consistent color traveling from the scanner, monitor, software packages, and then to the printed color output. The profile and the color management system provide What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG). Graphics programs benefit from image color management (ICM) only if they have built-in support, such as PhotoShop, PageMaker, and Corel.
