Dell | Support 1.2 Patch

Intended audience for this patch
================================

This patch is intended to update Dell | Support version 1.2.88.

To find out if you have the right version, go to <Program Files Folder>\
Dell\Support\bin.  The first line is your current Dell | Support version.

Installing the patch will update the version to 1.2.88a

Fixes done by this patch:
========================

When network connection does not exist or if it is incorrectly setup,
an internet connection dialog box shows up at a given time interval
when the program checks for internet connection.

This patch fixes it so that dialog box does not show up unless user tries
to go to the online portion of the program (i.e. user initiated it).

Installation errors and explanations:
====================================

1) Installation error: Could not copy Damon.exe file. Please refer to the
readme.txt file for more info. Installation will not continue.

Reason: The file that is being updated could not be copied to the appropriate
directory.  Make sure that the file is present in the set of installation files.
If it's not present, download a new version of the patch from support.dell.com. Make sure
all programs are closed. You might also want to restart your computer before installing
the patch again.

2) Installation error: Dell | Support version 1.2 must be installed first
before installing the patch. Please refer to the readme.txt file for more info.
Installation will not continue.

Reason: You do not have Dell | Support installed on your computer. Go to 
support.dell.com to download Dell | Support before installing the patch.

3) Installation error: You have already installed the patch. Please refer to
the readme.txt file for more info. Installation will not continue.

Reason: This patch has already been applied to your computer. No action needed.

4) Installation error: Problem occurred before update could be installed.
Registry value for working directory could not be obtained. Please refer
to the readme.txt file for more info.

Reason: Registry operation failed.  Reboot the machine and try installation
again.

5) Installation error: Could not copy version.txt file. Please refer to
the readme.txt file for more info. Installation will not continue.

Reason: The file version.txt could not be copied into the appropriate
directory.  Make sure that the file is present in the set of installation files.
If it's not present, download a new version of the patch from support.dell.com. Make sure
all programs are closed. You might also want to restart your computer before installing
the patch again.

6) Installation error: This patch does not apply to your version of Dell | Support.
Please refer to the readme.txt file for more information. Installation will not continue.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
