1 Introduction
NVIDIA(R) POWERdraft(tm) can be used with any of these applications:
* AutoCAD(R) 2002
* AutoCAD 2000
* AutoCAD 2000i
* AutoCAD Architectural Desktop(R) Release 3.3
* AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Release 2
* AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Release 2i
* Mechanical Desktop Release 6
* Mechanical Desktop Release 5
* Mechanical Desktop Release 4
NOTE: AutoCAD installation is required in order to run
Mechanical Desktop or Architectural Desktop applications.

2.1 Components of the NVIDIA POWERdraft Software
The NVIDIA POWERdraft installation software consists of:
README.TXT -> this file that you are reading
SETUP.EXE -> installation program for Windows
all others -> files needed by SETUP
The online Help file is installed during POWERdraft
installation.

2.2 System Requirements (overview)
NOTE: Refer to the NVIDIA POWERdraft User's Guide for further
details on System Requirements.
Before you install and use this driver, you must have the
following:
* Windows(R) NT 4.0 or Windows XP/2000 operating system
* A graphics card based on the NVIDIA Quadro(tm), Quadro2, or
Quadro4 GPU (graphics processing unit)
NOTE: Equivalent NVIDIA graphics cards may also be used.
See the NVIDIA POWERdraft User's Guide for details.
* NVIDIA Windows XP/2000 Display Driver or
NVIDIA Windows NT 4.0 Display Driver
* AutoCAD already installed

2.3 Setting Directory Access Rights
Directory access is required during setup, configuration, and
operation of NVIDIA POWERdraft. Makes sure Write-access is enabled
for the directories listed in this section.
2.3.1 Directories Accessed During Setup
The Setup program requires "Write access" to the following
directories:
* AutoCAD directory: Setup generates the file PD15PATH.INI,
which holds the driver path in this directory.
* AutoCAD "DRV" directory: Setup copies the NVIDIA POWERdraft
Hardware Renderer (*.HDI file) to this directory.
* Driver directory: Setup copies most of the NVIDIA POWERdraft
files to the driver directory.
* Windows System directory: Setup may replace the SYSTEM.DLL
files MSVCRT.DLL and/or MFC42.DLL with actual
versions in this directory.
* Windows directory: Setup generates the file NVDA15.INI,
which holds the NVIDIA POWERdraft settings in this
directory.
2.3.2 Directories Accessed During Configuration
The configuration utility requires Write access to the
AutoCAD directory. During configuration, the original
AutoCAD display driver configuration is modified.
2.3.3 Directories Accessed During Normal Operation
During execution, NVIDIA POWERdraft requires "Write access"
to the following directories:
* Driver directory
* Windows directory: NVIDIA POWERdraft updates its
settings in the file NVDS15.INI when it finishes execution.

2.4 Confirming NVIDIA POWERdraft Version Number
You can use one of the following methods to determine the version
number of the NVIDIA POWERdraft driver you are about to install.
* Use the Windows Explorer to open the properties of the file named
NVDS15.DLL in your driver directory.
* While AutoCAD is running with NVIDIA POWERdraft configured, type
the following command in the AutoCAD command line.
PdVer
* Open the AutoCAD Tools > Options dialog box. The NVIDIA POWERdraft
tab contains the current driver version.

2.5 Installing NVIDIA POWERdraft
1. Make sure that AutoCAD is installed but not running.
2. Start the Setup program: Click the Setup icon from the
installation directory. The Choose Setup Language
dialog box appears.
3. Choose the Setup Language.
4. Click the list box arrow, then click the appropriate
language from the list and click OK.
5. Launch the InstallShield Wizard.
6. Click Next at the NVIDIA POWERdraft Setup welcome window.
A series of windows appears with further instructions:

2.5.1 Select Components Window
a) Select the POWERdraft components to install.
b) Use the check boxes to choose which of the POWERdraft
components you want to install.
c) Choose the Destination Folder. The destination folder
is where the application files are copied. To specify
a different folder, click Browse, then browse to a
different folder.
d) Click Next to proceed to the next window.

2.5.2 Select Program Folder Window
a) Select the folder to add program shortcuts.
b) Either use the default folder already in the Program
Folder box, enter a new folder, or select a folder
from the Existing Folders list.
c) Click Next to proceed to the next window.

2.5.3 AutoCAD Installation
The AutoCAD Installation box lists the AutoCAD
applications that the Setup program has found
on your computer.
a) Use the check boxes to choose which AutoCAD
applications you want to use the NVIDIA POWERdraft
driver as the display driver.
b) You can also click Select All to choose all of the
applications, or Clear All to make sure none of the
application are chosen. Any applications that are
not checked will use AutoCAD's built-in driver as
the display driver.
c) Click Next to proceed to the next window.
The driver is installed in a separate driver directory,
and Setup creates a program group that contains the
following icons:
* NVIDIA POWERdraft Help opens the online Help file.
* NVIDIA POWERdraft Maintenance lets you reconfigure the display
drivers for each AutoCAD application, as well as reinstall
or uninstall NVIDIA POWERdraft software components.
NOTE: This icon works only when AutoCAD is not running. If
the POWERdraft program folder appears, close the folder.

7. Click Finish from the InstallShield Wizard Complete window.
The Readme file dialog box appears.
8. Click Yes or No, depending on whether you want to view
the readme file, then click OK.
After Setup has completed successfully, POWERdraft is automatically
configured as specified in the installation process.

2.6 Starting NVIDIA POWERdraft
NVIDIA POWERdraft launches whenever the AutoCAD application starts.
NOTE: If AutoCAD does not start after NVIDIA POWERdraft installation,
reinstall NVIDIA POWERdraft.

2.7 Modifying, Repairing, or Uninstalling NVIDIA POWERdraft
The NVIDIA POWERdraft Maintenance option allows you to:
* Add or remove selected POWERdraft program components,
* Reinstall program components that were previously installed, or
* Uninstall all installed POWERdraft program components.

2.7.1 Accessing the POWERdraft Maintenance Option
a) Make sure AutoCAD is not running before you access the
POWERdraft Maintenance option.
b) To access the Maintenance option, either
* Click Start > Programs > NVIDIA Corporation >
NVIDIA POWERdraft Maintenance, or
* Double click the Add/Remove Programs icon from the
Windows Control Panel, locate the NVIDIA POWERdraft
item, and click Change/Remove. The Choose Setup
Language dialog box appears.
c) Choose the Setup Language.
d) Click the list box arrow, then click the appropriate language
from the list and click OK. The NVIDIA POWERdraft Maintenance
Wizard welcome window appears.
e) Click one of these options according to what you want to do:
* Modify:
Follow the instructions in the section "Modifying the POWERdraft
Installation" to add or remove POWERdraft program components.
* Repair
Follow the instructions in the section "Reinstalling POWERdraft"
to reinstall all program components that were previously installed.
* Remove
Follow the instructions in the section "Uninstalling POWERdraft"
to uninstall POWERdraft.

2.7.2 Modifying POWERdraft Installation
a) Perform the steps listed in the section "Accessing the
Maintenance Option".
b) In the Welcome window, click Modify, then click Next.
A series of windows appears with further instructions:
Select Components Window

a) Select the POWERdraft components to install or remove.
Use the check boxes to choose which of the POWERdraft
components you want to install or remove.
NOTE: At least one component must be selected before
proceeding further. If you clear all selections,
then POWERdraft will be temporarily disabled until
you enable at least one of these components.
b) Choose the Destination Folder. The destination folder is where
the application files are copied. To specify a different folder,
click Browse, then browse to a different folder.
c) Click Next to proceed to the next window.
AutoCAD Installation
====================
The AutoCAD Installation box lists the AutoCAD applications that the
Setup program has found on your computer.
a) Use the check boxes to choose which AutoCAD applications
you want to use the NVIDIA POWERdraft driver as the
display driver.
b) You can also click Select All to choose all of the applications,
or Clear All to make sure none of the application are chosen.
Any applications that are not checked will use AutoCAD's
built-in driver as the display driver.
c) Click Next to proceed to the next window. The InstallShield Wizard
Maintenance Complete window appears.
d) Click Finish to complete the maintenance process.

2.7.3 Reinstalling POWERdraft
a) Perform the steps listed in the section
"Accessing the POWERdraft Option".
b) In the Welcome window, click Repair, then click Next. The
program runs through the reinstallation process. When
it has completed, the InstallShield Wizard Maintenance
Complete window appears.
c) Click Finish to complete the maintenance process.

2.7.4 Uninstalling POWERdraft
a) Perform the steps listed in the section
"Accessing the POWERdraft Option".
b) In the Welcome window, click Remove, then click Next.
The Confirm File Deletion dialog box appears.
c) Click OK in the Confirm File Deletion dialog box. The
InstallShield Wizard Maintenance Complete window appears.
d) Click Finish to complete the uninstall process.

3. Troubleshooting
If AutoCAD does not start after you have installed NVIDIA POWERdraft,
reinstall NVIDIA POWERdraft.

on "Fixed Issues" and current "Known Issues".
Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
