     Install the drivers before you install the Creative PC-DVD Encore Dxr3 software.

     TO WINDOWS XP USERS
     When installing drivers from this CD, you may see a message from Microsoft telling
     you that the drivers are not certified.
     If you do, you may choose to click the Continue Anyway button. Creative has tested
     these drivers on Windows XP, and they do not impair or destabilize your computer.

     After installing the card, do the following:

     To install the drivers
     ----------------------

     1)   Restart your computer.
          Windows will detect your card and prompt you to install the hardware driver.
     2) Go to the location of the downloaded web release files.
     3) Browse through the files for the Drivers subfolder.
     4) Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

     To install the PC-DVD Player software
     -------------------------------------

     1) Double-click the My Computer icon on your desktop.
     2) Go to the location of the downloaded web release files, and browse through the
          files for the Appl subfolder.
     3)   Double-click the Setup.exe file.
     4) Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

2. BORDER ADJUSTMENT AND COLOR CALIBRATION
     ---------------------------------------

     After applying Auto Calibration, the border of the screen may still require correction.
     You may need to manually calibrate the border to obtain the setting you want.
     For each display resolution, you need to calibrate the border only once.

     Do the following:

     1)   Click Start -> Programs -> Creative PC-DVD -> PC-DVD Configuration.

     2) Click the Adjust Border button and use the resize and positioning buttons
          to adjust the black rectangle in the magenta box.

     3) Change different values to adjust stability if you are viewing jumping
          pixels on MPEG video. Click the OK button when you are done.

     4) Click the Reset Default button to reset the color calibration and border
          adjustment values, if you wish to go back to the default settings.

     Note 1: Color calibration is necessary if the colors are too bright or too dull, or if
             the screen is pink or not clear. To calibrate the colors, click the Auto
             Calibration button. The screen will flash for 5 to 10 seconds, and then a
             dialog box displays a message stating that the calibration is complete.
             Click the OK button.

     Note 2: In cases where the color calibration is unsuccessful, click Advanced -> Manual
             Calibration. Adjust the R, G, B sliders to make the changes manually.

     Note 3: In TV mode, color calibration and border adjustment cannot be set.

     Note: The setup program will allow you to change the region code five times.

     on the drive. Go to the Device Manager page, and click your DVD-ROM drive device.
     Click the Region Set tab, and select the country you are in.

6.   TROUBLESHOOTING
     =============================================

     i) Problem: When an MPEG file is played, sound is heard but the video appears in one solid
                   color.

          Solution:

          1) Make sure that the output connector of the Display Adapter is connected to
               the Creative PC-DVD Encore Dxr3 input connector and the Display Adapter's
               output connector is connected to the monitor.
          2)   Click Start -> Programs -> Creative PC-DVD -> PC-DVD Configuration.
          3)   Select Auto Calibration.

     ii) Problem: The picture is wavy.

          Solution:

          1)   Click Start -> Programs -> Creative PC-DVD -> PC-DVD Configuration.
          2) Select Border Adjust and click on the arrow buttons to smoothen the two
               vertical sides.

     iii Problem: Capturing an MPEG frame from an encrypted DVD movie is not supported
                   because of copyright infringement issues.

          Solution: The capture feature gives its best results at a color quality of 64 K
                    (16 bits) or higher.

     iv) Problem: Playing Video Object (VOB) files using other players might not display
                   the best performance because of different navigation schemes.

          Solution: Use Creative PC-DVD player.
