README.TXT: for the VDF Plotter ADI Driver for WINDOWS, V 1.02 ---------- @ Copyright Océ, 94 This is V 1.02 of the ADI Windows VDF plotter driver for AutoCAD R12 for the Oce G1800, G9800, G1900, G9000 and 9500 (and 1600) output devices. This driver cannot be used with AutoCAD R11 Windows. For a brief explanation of usage, run the help file PVDF_DOC.HLP. Main files description: ------------------ PLPVDF DLL Windows ADI driver PVDF_DOC HLP Brief help file README TXT The file that your are reading. Pen width definition: -------------------- You should pay a specific attention to the way the pen widths are handled by this driver. All lines are considered as if they were all plotted with a physical pen of width 0.2 mm. This implies that: + line thickening is considered active when the pen width defined in AutoCAD is greater than 0.2 mm. + ON PEN PLOTTERS: A line defined with a pen width in AutoCAD smaller than 0.2 mm will be plotted with a single vector. The line generated will therefore be of the width of the physical pen used. A line defined with a pen width in AutoCAD greater than 0.2 mm will be plotted as a thick line with parallel overlapping vectors. A physical pen of width 0.2 mm is mandatory for a correct solid fill. If you don't want to use line thickening, leave all pen widths in AutoCAD to their default value of 0.005 inch. All lines will be plotted with the exact width of the physical pen present on the carousel. + ON RASTER PLOTTERS: A line defined with a pen width in AutoCAD smaller than 0.2 mm will be drawn on the plotter with the width which has been set for the corresponding pen on the machine's front panel. A line defined with a pen width in AutoCAD greater than 0.2 mm will be drawn as a thick line with parallel overlapping vectors. The driver assumes that the pen defined on the machine's front panel is thick enough to generate solid fill. Since the overlapping is of approximately 30% of the assumed vector width, setting the actual width at the front panel to 0.16 mm (or close) is correct. We suggest that: - for the pens you want to be plotted with a width inferior to 0.2 mm, set the corresponding pen widths at the machine front panel to the minimum width possible. - for the pens you want to be plotted with a width superior to 0.2 mm, set the corresponding pen width at the machine front panel to 0.16 mm (or close). . Serial communication: -------------------- The driver uses XON/XOFF protocol in communication with the plotters over a serial line. This is a change from the CTS/RTS protocol used in previous AutoCAD drivers. On the plotter panel, choose XON4 or XON/XOFF as the protocol. This is a change from the factory settings on some models. Note, however, that when using Autospool from DOS, the plotter must be set for CTS2 (HARDWARE on some models). See the file AUTOSPOL.DOC for more information on Autospool with PLPVDF. New with AutoCAD 12 Windows: --------------------------- Certain Oce-specific plotter parameters are now set from a dialog box rather than a text screen. To access these parameters, select "Device and Default Selection" from the Plot dialog box, then select "Show Device Requirements" to see the current settings, and/or select "Change Device Requirements" to change the settings. The Oce-specific parameters are: Copy Count End-of-Plot action (Move Clear, Move Page, or no action) Plotter Port Timeout (in seconds) If the AutoCAD variable CMDDIA is set to 0, all plot dialogue will appear on a text screen, as in previous releases of AutoCAD. If the plotter is said Offline by AutoCAD in the middle of a complex plot, try to resend the plot with a larger time-out value (0 seconds for an infinite time-out). Pen settings: ------------ You may need to adjust the pen settings at the plotter front panel, so that they don't interfear with the ones defined with the driver. For example, on a G9865 machine, the pen patterns are set at the front panel and cannot be activated or disactivated from within AutoCAD by the driver. When plotting drawings with surrounding frames, you may need to plot with a small offset of the origin (for example x=0.05,y=0.05 inch) so that the left and bottom sides of the frame are not partially clipped. The value of the offset will vary with the pen width used.Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
