-----------------
1.0 Documentation
-----------------

This application enables you to verify the integrity of your SCSI cable(s) and update your hard drives to the latest
firmware version. Please review the supported SCSI drives listed for criticality of updates.

----------------------------
2.0 Starting the Application
----------------------------

Insert the CD in the CD drive of the system you want to check and start the system.

NOTE: Your system must be set to boot from the CD drive first. You can set this order in your system BIOS. See your
User's Guide for information.

----------------------------
3.0 Running the Application
----------------------------

* When you first start the application, you cannot use the mouse on the initial menu. You must use the up/down
arrow keys to navigate to options. Press <Enter> to select an option.

* Back up your data before updating the firmware. Once the update has started it must run to completion;
otherwise, the drive may not function. Dell recommends using an uninterruptible power supply during the
  procedure.

* Do not run this application during a RAID volume rebuild.

------------------------
3.1 Automatic Batch Mode
------------------------

* The Update utility defaults to a fully Automatic Batch mode requiring no user interaction. When the
application starts, there is a prompt to load Patch.zip. Default is {Y}, this loads the Automatic routines.
A second prompt to run Interactive or Automatic Batch. Default is {B}.

--------------------
3.2 Interactive Mode
--------------------

* In Interactive mode, there are two menu options to update firmware, Automatic and Interactive. Automatic
mode allows for unattended firmware updates. Interactive mode allows the user to select individual drives
  to update.

* When updates are complete, a prompt to view the results file, default is {N} and to eject the media.

----------------------------
4.0 Notes on the Application
----------------------------

* On drives connected to a PERC5, the utility will wait for 5 minutes for the first drive. There is no
wait on subsequent drives, unless the utility is exited. Do not power cycle or reboot your system while
  the update is taking place.

* While the update is in progress, status will show "Testing". This is an indication that drive firmware is being
flashed, no other tests are occurring.

* This utility supports SCSI Hard drives. For any model Hard drive that is not supported by this
utility, it will display "No Update".
