1. IMPROVING USB DEVICE STABILITY
     ------------------------------

In some cases, slowing down the computer hardware's graphics acceleration
may improve the stability of USB devices.

To adjust the computer hardware's graphics acceleration:
     1) Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
     2) In the Control Panel window, double-click the Display icon.
     3) In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.
     4) In the Settings tabbed page, click the Advanced Properties button.
     5) In the Advanced Display Properties dialog box, click the Performance tab.
     6) Drag the Hardware Acceleration slider to the left to slow down the rate.

2. BEST LIVE VIDEO QUALITY AT 640 x 480
     ------------------------------------

Creative Video Blaster WebCam 5 supports live videos of up to
     640 x 480 in size.
To achieve the best live video quality for this size, set the
     frame rate to 10 fps.

To change the frame rate using Creative WebCam Control:
     1. Launch WebCam Control.
     2. Click the Format button.
The Stream Format tabbed page appears.
     3. In the Frame Rate box, select 10.000.
     4. Click the OK button.

3. SETTING VIDEO CAPTURE FRAME RATE
     --------------------------------

By default, the Video Capture frame rate is dependent on the
surrounding lighting. If the area is generally dim, the frame
rate is automatically reduced. If the area has good lighting,
the frame rate is increased, possibly up to the 30 fps maximum.

To turn off this default, disable the Auto Exposure setting in
the camera by following the steps below.

     For 640 x 480 videos:
Follow the steps in the section "Best Video Quality At 640 x
480" above, then go to "For videos smaller than 640 x 480" below.

     For videos smaller than 640 x 480:
     1. Launch WebCam Control.
     2. Click the Source button.
The Camera Controls tabbed page appears.
     3. In the Exposure section, click the Auto check box to clear it.
     4. Click the Close button.

4. SAVING CAMERA CONTROL SETTINGS
     ------------------------------

By saving any changes made in the Camera Control settings, you
can use the settings again the next time you launch WebCam
     Control.

     1. Launch WebCam Control.
     2. Click the Source button. The Camera Controls tabbed page
         appears.
     3. Adjust any or all the settings.
     4. In the User Defaults section, click the Save button.
     5. Click the Close button.

5. FREQUENCY SETTING
     -----------------
The correct frequency setting for Europe is 50Hz, an incorrect setting may
     cause flicker.
To check; open WebCam Control, click on the "Source" button and choose 50Hz.
     Note that:
The WDM driver defaults to 50Hz.
The VFW driver defaults initially to 60Hz and needs to be reset as above.

6. NOTES ON WEBCAM CONTROL
     -----------------------

Certain Video and Audio compression/decompression drivers may
not work correctly with WebCam Control.
Some recommended codecs for video are:
       - Intel(r) Indeo(r) 3.2
       - Intel(r) Indeo(r) 5.04 Compression Filter

A recommended audio codec is PCM.

7. TROUBLESHOOTING
     ---------------

     Problem:
There is no video displayed when the application is in Video View.

     Solution:
     * Use the Device Manager to verify that the USB Host
        Controller has no resource conflicts.
     * Slow down the graphics hardware acceleration.

     Problem:
Video capture fails in Windows 98 (First Edition) or Millennium.

     Solution:
Enable the DMA (Direct Memory Access) option for your hard disk.
For details of your hard disk options please consult your hard
     disk or PC documentation.

8. KNOWN PROBLEMS
     ---------------

     WebCam Monitor:
To work correctly in Windows 98 First Edition , WebCam Monitor requires Internet
     Explorer 5.5 or higher.
Internet Explorer 5.5 is supplied on the installation CD.

If you are using a VFW device and select RGB24 format in
Windows Millennium, you will only see a blank screen after
     the VFW device is initialized.
Choose another format in which to view videos and images.
