Installation of ICP Controller Snap-In for
Intel(R) LANDesk(R) Server Manager

Installation guide
------------------

The installation of the ICP Controller Snap-In's is done by
the Mangagement Installer from Intel(R) LANDesk(R) Server
Manager. 


0. PREPARATION

   a. Preparation of the server

      *  Be shure, that the "SNMP Service" is installed on the
         server. It is a Windows(R) NT Network Service.
         In the "Services" page of the "Network" dialog box (from 
         the Control Panel), you can take a view on the properties
         of the SNMP service by selecting "SNMP service" and 
         pressing the "Properties..." button.
         On the "Traps" page you can determine trap destinations. 
         One of the destinations MUST be the Management Console's 
         machine.

      *  Install "ICP SNMP Extention Agent" from the ICPTools
         package, if not already done. 
         To install it, start "Icptools.exe", select "Custom" 
         Setup Type and then "ICP SNMP Extention Agent" on the 
         next page.

   b. Preparation of the Management Console's machine

      *  Be shure, that the "SNMP Trap Service" is installed.
         It is a Windows(R) NT Network Service.

   c.  Copy the contents of the "SnapIn Disk" directory with the
       ICP Controller Snap-In files to a floppy disk.


1. START INTEL(R) LANDesk(R) SERVER MANAGER SETUP 
   (Setup.exe from the CD-ROM).

   a.  In the Welcome page of the Management installer choose
       "Install" and press the "Next" button.

   b.  Select "Yes, I accept" in the Licence agreement page.

   c.  Type in your Registration key in the Registration page.


2. SELECT INSTALLATION COMPONENTS

   a.  In the Select Components page, press the "Have Disk..." 
       button, insert the floppy disk with the ICP Controller 
       Snap-In files and press OK in the "Insert Disk" dialog 
       window.
       The Management Installer will show the components found
       on the diskette. Confirm it by pressing the OK button.

   b.  In the Select Components page choose the components you
       want to install:
       Select "Server Manager Console", if you do not have 
       already installed the Server Manager Console.
       Select "Server Manager Agents". You must install this 
       component, even if you have it already installed.
       Select "ICP RAID Controller Snap-In (Console)" and
       "ICP RAID Controller Snap-In (Server)".
       

3. SELECT INSTALLATION DIRECTORIES / SERVERS

   a.  First the Console part installation is done. 
       If you do install the Management Console, select the 
       target directory. 
       In the other case the installation proceeds 
       automatically.

   b.  Select destination servers for the Server Manager Agents.


4. FINISH INSTALLATION

   Management Installer copies files.


5. REBOOT

   Reboot server(s) and the Management Console's machine.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
