Using Your Notetaker as a Braille Display
The Braille Lite serves as a refreshable Braille display when using your computer and screen access software as the driver for your notetaker. Toggle the switch on the left edge of the Braille Lite toward the front of the unit to enter Braille Display Mode. The Braille Lite should be connected to your PC through the serial port, powered on, and toggled to Braille Display Mode before your screen access software is started.

Using JAWS(r) for Windows
Choose the link Screen Reading Software. When you arrive on the next page, choose the JAWS 4.01 Help System link. On the File Download dialog, select the "Save this file to disk" radio button. Then press the ENTER key on your PC keyboard. This will put the JAWS Online Help System on your computer desktop. Follow the WinZip Wizard and unzip the files. Next open the unzipped file titled JFW.chm. Last navigate down the tree view to the book titled JAWS and Refreshable Braille.

Using Connect Outloud
Choose the link Web Access Software. When you arrive on the next page, choose the Connect Outloud Help System link. On the File Download dialog, select the "Save this file to disk" radio button. Then press the ENTER key on your PC keyboard. This will put the Connect Outloud Help System on your computer desktop. Follow the WinZip Wizard and unzip the files. Next open the unzipped file titled col.chm. Last navigate down the tree view to the book titled Using Refreshable Braille Displays.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
