New install of NetWare 4.2, 5.0, 5.1 and 6.0
============================================
(Versions prior 4.2 are not supported by this driver)

Note: Before hard disks connected to the controller can be used they have to
be configured first in the setup tool which can be accessed on boot by
      pressing Ctrl+G.

Fresh installation of NetWare 4.2 using GDTRX.HAM driver:
---------------------------------------------------------
- create a driver diskette from the ICP System CD
(simply copy all files and directories from \drivers\netware to a diskette)
- start the OS installation from the NetWare CD
(Note: NetWare 4.x CDs are NOT bootable. A bootable DOS partition with the
appropriate DOS drivers for the used CD-ROM is required)
- at the driver summary menu select modify drivers
- insert the driver diskette into drive A:
- press ENTER on the storage driver list
- press INS in the storage controller driver menu
- press F3 and change the path to A:\drivers\4xx then press Enter
- select the GDTRX.HAM driver
- continue the NetWare installation by following the screen prompts

If the system hangs after loading drivers use the following steps:
------------------------------------------------------------------
- at the driver summary menu select modify drivers
- note all listed drivers (these names are required later on)
- REMOVE ALL drivers from the list
- insert the driver diskette into drive A:
- press ENTER on the storage driver list
- press INS in the storage controller driver menu
- press F3 and change the path in A:\drivers\4xx then press Enter
- select the GDTRX.HAM driver
- afterwards add all drivers noted before
- continue the NetWare installation by following the screen prompts

Fresh installation of NetWare 5.0 using GDTRX.HAM driver:
---------------------------------------------------------
- IMPORTANT: The GDTRX.HAM driver depends on a later version of the
NWPA.NLM than the one shipped with the NetWare 5.0 CD.
Without the NWPA.NLM update, the GDTRX.HAM driver will fail to load.
The following procedure will allow to upgrade the NWPA.NLM on the
   fly during OS installation.

- create a driver diskette from the ICP System CD
(simply copy all files and directories from \drivers\netware to a diskette)
- start the OS installation from the NetWare bootable CD
- the NetWare Install will eventually load a "Welcome" screen asking to
   verify the startup directory (C:\NWSERVER)
- press Alt+F10 to exit the installation.
- at the NetWare console prompt, type "down" and press ENTER
(the installation exits to the boot drive's DOS prompt)
- insert the driver diskette into the A: drive
- if the NetWare startup directory is on drive C:, run A:\INSTALL\NWUPDATE.BAT,
otherwise create a subdirectory named NWUPDATE at the root of the boot drive
and copy all the files from A:\DRIVERS\5XX to this NWUPDATE subdirectory
- leave the NetWare 5.0 bootable CD in place, remove the driver diskette
- reboot the server
- after rebooting the server, the NetWare 5.0 Install will start again
- right after the Accept of the License Agreement screen, select the
   "Continue with Existing Partition" option
- when installing a new server the following message may show up:
"Warning: A previously installed version of NetWare was detected in C:\NWSERVER.
If you choose to install a new server, all data on the existing server will be lost.
    <Press ENTER to continue>".
Since this is a new installation press enter to continue.
- continue the NetWare installation by following the screen prompts
- during filecopy the following error message may show up:
   File "C:\NWSERVER\NWPA.NLM" cannot be opened.
ignore this error message, press <ENTER> to continue and choose
   "Continue copying next file"
- complete the NetWare installation by following the screen prompts
- select "No" when the prompt for restart of the server comes up
- change to the NetWare console, type "down" and press ENTER
(the installation exits to the boot drive's DOS prompt)
- insert the driver diskette into the A: drive
- run A:\INSTALL\NWUPDATE.BAT with the path to the server startup directory as
   a parameter. E.g. A:\INSTALL\NWUPDATE C:\NWSERVER
- reboot the system

Fresh installation of NetWare 5.1x using GDTRX.HAM driver:
----------------------------------------------------------
- create a driver diskette from the ICP System CD
(simply copy all files and directories from \drivers\netware to a diskette)
- start the OS installation from the NetWare bootable CD
- at the storage driver summary menu select modify drivers
- insert the driver diskette into drive A:
- press ENTER on the storage driver list
- press INS in the storage controller driver menu
- press F3 and change the path to A:\DRIVERS\5XX then press ENTER
- select the GDTRX.HAM driver
- continue the NetWare installation by following the screen prompts

NOTE: The above procedures install only the controller drivers.
To install ICPCON.NLM, follow the procedure under "Add ICP RAID Controller(s),
drivers, and/or ICPCON to an existing NetWare installation" and select the
"ICP RAID Controller Tools Kit (ICPCON.NLM)" option. (instructions below)

RECOMMENDATION: Install all Novell NetWare patches and updates

Fresh installation of NetWare 6.x using GDTRX.HAM driver:
---------------------------------------------------------
- the GDTRX.HAM driver is already located on the NetWare 6.0 CD and will be
  detected automatically during installation.

RECOMMENDATION: Update to the latest GDTRX.HAM after OS installation as described
below and install all Novell NetWare patches and updates.

Add ICP RAID Controller(s), drivers, and/or ICPCON to an existing NetWare installation
======================================================================================
RECOMMENDATION: Install all Novell NetWare patches and updates prior to installation
of the ICP RAID Controller driver and ICPCON

- create a driver diskette from the ICP System CD
(simply copy all files and directories from \drivers\netware to a diskette)
- power off the system and add the ICP RAID Controller card(s) (if not already installed)
- power on the system and boot to the OS (if not already running)
- load NWCONFIG.NLM (for 5.x and above) or load INSTALL.NLM (for 4.2)

   the INSTALL/NWCONFIG main options
- select "Driver Options"
- select "Configure disk and storage device drivers"
- select "Discover and load additional drivers"
- press ENTER to continue past any module load errors not related to the RAID Controller
- press F3 to continue past any hardware found by NetWare for which a matching driver
   was not found
- NetWare will now load the GDTRX.HAM driver for each hardware instance installed in
the system and update the STARTUP.NCF file so the driver will load for each
   subsequent restart of the server
- select "Return to previous menu" twice to get back to the INSTALL/NWCONFIG main options

Install the "ICP RAID Controller Tools Kit" package
---------------------------------------------------

- change the path to A:\INSTALL and press enter to continue
- select "ICP RAID Controller Tools Kit (ICPCON.NLM)"
(position cursor on menu and press space bar to select - X in checkbox)
- press F10 to accept the selected item
- NetWare will copy the respective files and then automatically load ICPCON.NLM and
then modify the AUTOEXEC.NCF file to load ICPCON.NLM for each subsequent restart
   of the server

Configuring tools for remote access
===================================

TCP/IP Tool
-----------
- after installation of the "ICP RAID Controller Tools Kit" package start the tool
   "ICPD.NLM" on the server
- include ICPD.NLM in the autoexec.ncf file and restart the server or start it manually
- now it is possible to connect to the RAID Controller via ICPCON from an attached
   workstation
- In the file icpd.cfg which is located in the SYS:ETC directory users and passwords
can be defined. By default the user Admin with the admin password is configured.

IPX Tool
--------
- create a group ICP_Operator in the NDS and add the Admin and all other users which
should be able to use the remote configuration tool of the RAID controller
- load CTRLIPX.NLM
- after this, start ICPCON from an attached workstation, connect to the server and
use a user name of the group ICP_Operator and his NetWare password
