readme.txt Driver File Contents (Power_DVD_Mpeg2_codec_for_Windows_Media_Player.zip)

Copy DirectShow filters (.AX files) AND the 2 .BAT files into the same folder

When using Register.bat you will be able to :
- play DVD through Windows 98 DVD player
- play VOB files with Media Player

Use UnRegister.bat if you want to disable these codecs.

Use MediaPlayer.reg file to display files with the extension .VOB
in Media Player's Open File dialog

08/21/00 - stuff modified/added and notes by Jojobean (http://ntrx.cjb.net)
Updated with MPEG2 DirectShow filters using files from PowerDVD v2.5.5 retail Build 0620.
Added .bat files which work with Windows 2000.

Notes: The filters do not work well with Windows Media Player 7 when viewing full sized
DVDs or MPEG2 videos (e.g. 704x480). But the filters work fine with S-VCD (e.g. 480x480).

Even the filters that came packed in the original zip file produced skips during playback.
with WMP7. I hoped to get rid of the skips by updating the PowerDVD files, but there is
no difference in performance. However, there are probably less bugs.

These filters will work completely fine for all MPEG2 videos with WMP 6.4.

An alternative to the PowerDVD files is the Elecard MPEG2 decoder (in case you wanted to
view the MPEG2 videos in WMP7):
