This directory contains the CardDeluxe(TM) driver for Windows 2000 and XP.


*** Installation instructions ***

     New Installation (no CardDeluxe driver previously installed)
-Shut down the computer, install the CardDeluxe hardware (see the installation guide for detailed instructions), and boot the computer.
-The Hardware Wizard will launch.  Insert the installation disk now.
-Check "Install the software automatically" & click "Next"
-Windows will warn that using the CardDeluxe Analog + Digital Audio driver may impair the system, click "Continue Anyway"  (It will be OK!)
-Click Finish
-Restart your computer

     Update Driver Installation (Earlier version of CardDeluxe NT driver already installed)
-Go to Control Panel->System->Hardware->Device Manager->Sound, video & game controllers. Right Click on CardDeluxe Analog + Digital Audio, and select "Update Driver"
-The Hardware Wizard will launch.  If installing from a floppy disk, insert the disk now
-Click the selection, "Install from a list or a specific location (Advanced)" & Click "Next"
-Click the selection, "Search for the best driver in these locations:"
-Click the selection, "include this location in the search:" and Browse to the location of the new drivers (floppy or folder on disk) & Click "Next"
-Windows will warn that using the CardDeluxe Analog + Digital Audio driver may impair the system, Click "Continue Anyway"  (It will be OK!)
-Click Finish
-Restart your computer


*** Release notes ***

Known issues: (feel free to report any others to Support)

1) This Driver is NOT ACPI compliant and will not allow the computer to enter into "sleep" mode.

2) This driver will still be reported as "Not digitally signed".  (Driver tab
in Device Manager).

3) The Resource tab in Device Manager will report that the installed device
driver does not support Plug and Play.  This reporting discrepency will be
eliminated with the WDM driver.

4) The installation process may hang if the CardDlxConfig.exe program is loaded.  Check your system tray for the icon, and if you see it, hit Right Click->Exit on the system tray icon before re-installing the driver.


Digital Audio Labs Limited Warranty:

Digital Audio Labs warrants the CardDeluxe against defects in material
and workmanship for a period of one year from date of purchase.  During
this period, Digital Audio Labs will, at its option, repair the defective
unit, or replace it with a new or rebuilt one.  The warranty does NOT
cover:

* Damage due to abuse, misuse, or accident
* Damage due to operation contrary to the instructions in the product
  instruction manual
* Units on which the product serial number has been removed or altered
* Units that have been serviced by unauthorized personnel

All implied warranties, including warranties on merchantability and
fitness, are limited in time to the length of this warranty.  Some states
do not allow time limitations on implied warranties, so this limitation
may not apply to you.

Digital Audio Labs' liability is limited to the repair or replacement of
the product.  Digital Audio Labs shall in no way be held liable for
incidental or consequential damages resulting from the use of the
CardDeluxe or its software, including, without limitation, damages from
loss of business profits, business interruption, loss of business
information or other pecuniary loss.  Some states do not allow the
exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the
above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
