I. Special Considerations
Configuration of the AT-2400 Series PCI Ethernet adapter resources is under PCI control.
For most applications, no setup other than installation of the AT-2400 driver software
is necessary. To manually view the card's configuration or to run Diagnostics, use the
AT-2400 diagnostics utility set2400.exe. The diagnostic utility only runs under DOS.

II. Driver Installation
To install the AT-2400 driver you can chose Allied Telesyn's ATSetup which will automate
the process or by a typical Windows 2000/XP installation. Both of these installations are
covered below.

ATSetup
This utility will preinstall the AT-2400 network driver onto the operating system with no
other user interface required. With ATSetup the user is not required to enter the directory
location of the network driver that occurs during a typical Windows driver installation.
For a typical Windows 2000/XP network driver installation please see the section "Typical
Installation" below. For initial driver installation it is recommended not to have the
network adapter installed when running ATSetup. If you have already installed your adapter
before using ATSetup and you are currently having difficult with the device, please see
Section III "Using ATSetup To Correct Installation Problems".

1. Start Windows 2000/XP with no network adapter installed in the system. If you have
installed the adapter before running ATSetup, please go to Section III "Using ATSetup
   To Correct Installation Problems".
2. Insert the CardAssistant.
3. Select ATSetup.
4. At the "Driver Selection Dialog Window" select the correct product and ATSetup will copy
the NDIS drivers and configuration files to the appropriate directories. Select OK when
   ATSetup has completed.
5. Shut down the system, install the network adapter, and reboot. During system boot the
network adapter will be automatically detected and the NDIS driver installed. Click Yes
if you see the Microsoft Digital Signature Not Found message.

Typical Installation
A typical Windows 2000/XP network driver installation will detect the new hardware and
step you through the Installation Wizard. The steps are described below.

1. The Installation Wizard will detect that new hardware (Ethernet Controller) has been
   installed, select Next to continue.
2. Select the option for Search for a suitable driver for my device then select Next.
3. It will locate the netati24.inf, select Next.
4. The Installation Wizard will indicate that the driver does not have a Digital Signature
and has not been tested by Microsoft, select Yes to continue. The AT-2400 is currently
being certified and the digitized file will be made available on the WEB.

III. Using ATSetup To Correct Installation Problems.
1. ATSetup has the ability to correct failed AT-2400 installations due to aborted attempts.
The following steps start this simple recovery process.
2. Insert the CardAssistant.
3. Select ATSetup.

IV. Updating an Allied Telesyn Driver
Please note that the latest version of the AT-2400 Series driver is available for download
on the Allied Telesyn web site. An updated AT-2400 driver can be installed by ATSetup or by
using typical Windows updating procedures. Both are described below.

ATSetup
1. ATSetup reports installed driver versions and if a driver update is required.
If an update is selected the updated driver will be installed and enumerated without
   rebooting the system.
2. Insert the CardAssistant and select ATSetup.

If you want to update an already installed driver for your Allied Telesyn AT-2400 series
PCI Ethernet Adapter, follow these steps:
1. On the Windows desktop, right click My Computer and select Properties.
2. Select the Hardware tab, and click the Device Manager button.
The network adapter will be listed under Network Adapters. Right click the Network adapter,
and choose Properties, insert the CardAssistant.
3. Select the Drivers tab, then select the Update Driver button.
4. When the Upgrade Device Driver wizard starts click Next, then choose Search for Suitable
   Driver then click Next.
5. Select Specify a Location. Click Next. Browse to the path on the A:\, click Open and
then click OK. When Windows locates the driver netati24.inf, click Next. Since the
driver was not certified at the time of release, you will see the following window -
Digital Signature Not Found. Choose Yes to continue and install the driver. Otherwise,
   installation will be cancelled.
6. Click Finish and then Close and now you should see listed under Network Adapters in
Device Manager the Allied Telesyn AT-2400 PCI Ethernet adapter.

V. Removing an Existing Driver
1. On the Windows desktop, right click My Computer and select Properties.
2. Select the Hardware tab, and click the Device Manager button. The network adapter will
be listed under Network Adapters. Right click the AT-2400 adapter and choose Uninstall
   and then OK.

VI. Files Needed for Installation
The following files are required for installation:
* AT2400m5.sys--NDIS 5.0 driver
* Netati24.inf--OEM setup file for Windows

VII. How to See MAC Address
To determine the MAC address for a NIC:
Click the Start button and select Run. Type "cmd" and click OK. In the DOS shell, type the
command "IPCONFIG /ALL", this will list all IP devices and their associated MAC(Physical)
addresses.
Note: If you are not using the IP protocol, another method is to boot the computer into DOS
with no drivers loaded. Insert the CardAssistant CD and launch set2400.exe. The main screen
shows a table listing the AT-2400 Series PCI Ethernet adapters installed in the computer.
Write down the address(es) listed in the "MAC" column of the table.

VIII. Advanced Properties
The Advanced Properties are provided to support special functions that are supported by AT-2400
PCI Series Ethernet Adapter Cards. It is recommended that if you are not sure as to how these
settings will affect your configuration, please contact your LAN Administrator before changing
the advanced settings on an adapter card.

To get to the Advanced Properties section of the Allied Telesyn driver:
1. On the Windows desktop, right click My Computer and select Properties.
2. Select the Hardware tab, and click the Device Manager button. The network adapter will be
listed under Network Adapters. Right click the network adapter, and choose Properties. Select
the Advanced tab. This will list the advanced properties and their values when highlighted.
Below is an explanation of the advanced properties.

Early Tx Threshold
Allows for packets to be transmitted early using the adapter's FIFO buffer.

Line Speed/Duplex (Default: Depends on card)
Depending upon which AT-2400 PCI Ethernet Adapter Card is installed the menu options
for Speed/Duplex vary. For a copper connection, the best setting is Auto Negotiate, which
will detect the best setting for Speed and Duplex. Any other setting for speed and duplex will
need to be matched with the link partner. For a fiber connection, Auto Negotiate is not
supported and the best setting is to match speed and duplex with the link partner.

Link Down Wake-Up
Allows the computer to power on if the UTP cable is connected or disconnected. APM Wake-Up
must be enabled.

APM Wake-Up and Magic Packet (Default: Off)
Is a property that allows an Administrator to "Wake Up" a computer that is in a powered down
state. Check your Motherboard Manual for Wake on Lan support and how to enable it in the system
BIOS. For Magic Packet to work, the Wake on Lan Header on the Motherboard needs to be connected
to the AT-2400 PCI Ethernet Adapter Card. When on, the Allied Telesyn driver will enable Magic
Packet, when off this support will be disabled.

Network Address (LAA) (Default: Not Present)
This parameter overrides the network address of the network adapter card. The value of this
parameter is a hexadecimal string of 12 digits, e.g. 00001A180123. The address must be unique
among all other network adapter addresses on the network. To enter in a Networkaddress, enter
in a new value into the value box. Warning: This setting is not recommended unless the user is
familiar with its use and implications.

WARNING: The card and the connected device must be set to the same speed and duplex mode.
Incorrectly forcing a specific speed or duplex mode may result in poor performance and
data loss. Consult your LAN administrator before forcing a speed or duplex mode or if you
don't know the capabilities of the attached device.
