BNC connector
=============

In addition to an RJ45 connector, the AT-2400 PCI Ethernet
Adapter Card has a bayonnet nut couple (BNC) connector for
10Base2 standard thin Ethernet RG58 coaxial cable (thinnet).

RG58 coaxial cabling
====================

The maximum segment length is 185 meters (606 ft.), and
the minimum length between nodes is 0.5 meters (1.64 ft.).

For more information on the 10Base2 specification, contact
your local network supplier or call the IEEE at
800-678-IEEE.

Recommended cable
-----------------

IEEE 802.3 10Base2 standard

Termination
-----------

Internal nodes on a segment should be connected to the
thinnet cable via standard 10Base2 T-connectors. End-point
nodes and only end-point nodes should be terminated with
50 Ohm terminators. (As a default, Allied Telesyn 10Base2
hubs offer 50 Ohm termination internally.) If the segment
end does not have internal termination, use a T-connector
and 50 Ohm barrel terminator.

Link integrity
==============

ACT light for activity

LNK light for link

Refer to the "Diagnostic LED" information file for
brief description.

Note: The LED indicates read/write activity on the
network, not necessarily activity on the adapter.

Common problems
===============

A hub can't detect a workstation
--------------------------------

This is often the result of a crossed wire in the cable or
wiring closet. Make sure the wiring is correct.

Workstations can't connect to the network
-----------------------------------------

Reset or power off/on your hub or switch.
