   Windows NT 3.1

   Introduction:
   -------------
   This document describes the procedure to install  Windows NT v3.1
   driver for ISA Plug&Play ethernet adapter.

   Location of Driver:     \WINNT31\PNPWNT.SYS

   Installing driver procedure on Microsoft Windows NT :
   -----------------------------------------------------
   When you are in Windows NT :

   1.  Start Windows NT.

   2.  Double-click the Main group icon.

   3.  Double-click the Control Panel.

   4.  Double-click the Network icon.
       The Network Settings window appears.

   5.  Click the Add Adapter button.
       The Add Network Adapter window appears.

   6.  Select the "<Other> Requires disk from manufacturer" option then click
       the Continue button.

   7.  Insert the Driver Diskette into the floppy drive.

   8.  At the Insert Disk window type:
          A:\WINNT31

   9.  Click the OK button.
       The Select OEM Option window appears.

   10. Select ISA PnP Ethernet Adapter and click the OK button.
       The "Input Ethernet ID" dialog box appears. This option is only
       required when you have more than one Ethernet ISA adapters
       in this computer.

   11. Select Skip, if only one adapter is installed in this computer.
       Windows NT will perform the binding process. If any additional network
       software options were installed, you may be prompted for specific
       information for these packages.

   12. Complete the driver installation.

   13. Restart the computer.

   NOTES:
   ------

      1. Installing Multiple LAN Adapters:
         Start Windows NT and follow above setup procedure. In the "Network
         Settings" dialog box, choose the "Configure.." button. The "Input
         Ethernet ID" dialog box appears and enter the adapter's Ethernet ID.
         Select OK and close Network setup.

         Select SKIP if only one adapter is installed in this computer.

      2. If you install the ISA Plug and Play adapter in Windows NT at
         first time.  To use the mini-port driver(PNPWND.SYS ) on WINDOWS
         NT 3.1, you must replace the original  system NDIS.SYS file with
         the A:\WINNT31\NDIS.SYS  file included in this directory.

         For example:

                > cd c:\winnt\system32\drivers
                > copy a:\winnt31\ndis.sys

            or

                > cd c:\winnt\system32\drivers
                > rename ndis.sys ndis.bak
                > copy a:\winnt31\ndis.sys

How To Update Drivers Manually

After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.

  • Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).

  • If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.

  • Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.

  • Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.

  • Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.

  • From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.

  • Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.

Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
