1) INSTALLATION GUIDE
=====================

The tar image of the distribution floppy is in the compressed file
"disk01.exe". On a DOS machine, run the file "disk01.exe" to uncompress
it to "disk.01".

On a SCO UNIX machine, follow the steps below to install the driver.

1. Use the command 'doscp <DEVICE NAME>:sco/disk.01 .' to copy the tar
image into the current directory. The <DEVICE NAME> is defined below.

            where <DEVICE NAME> is
                /dev/fd048ds9 -- Drive A, 360K (5.25)
                /dev/fd096ds15 -- Drive A, 1.2 MB (5.25)
                /dev/fd0135ds9 -- Drive A, 720K (3.5)
                /dev/fd0135ds18 -- Drive A, 1.44 MB (3.5)
                /dev/fd048ds9 -- Drive B, 360K (5.25)
                /dev/fd096ds15 -- Drive B, 1.2 MB (5.25)
                /dev/fd0135ds9 -- Drive B, 720K (3.5)
                /dev/fd0135ds18 -- Drive B, 1.44 MB (3.5)

Example: To copy the file DISK.01 from the SCO directory in the DOS
formatted driver diskette in a 1.44MB Drive A to the current
             directory in SCO Unix,

             doscp /dev/fd0135ds18:sco/disk.01 .

2. Make a floppy distribution disk

    a) Format a blank diskette (SCO UNIX format)

          format -nif 2 <DEVICE NAME>

Example: To format a 1.44MB diskette in Drive A,

                format -nif 2 /dev/fd0135ds18

    b) Extract the DISK.01 image to the blank diskette by using 'dd' command.

        dd if=disk.01 of=<DEVICE NAME> bs=<DEVICE SECTORS>

where <DEVICE NAME> is defined above.
                  <DEVICE SECTORS> is '9k', '15k', or '18k' depending on
the drive type. Use '9k' for a 360k or 720k diskette
                                      '15k' for a 1.2MB diskette
                                      '18k' for a 1.44MB diskette

Example: To extract the DISK.01 image to a 1.44MB diskette in Drive A,

                 dd if=disk.01 of=/dev/fd0135ds18 bs=18k

3. Install and Configure the driver

    a) Install the driver by using the 'custom' utility

         custom

    b) Configure the driver

         mkdev pnt

    c) Configure the TCP/IP protocol stack to use the driver

         mkdev tcp

    d) Reboot the system to start using the driver.
