Installing SmartRAID V under Windows 2000-Beta 3

Go to the DPT web site (www.dpt.com) or contact DPT Technical Support
to obtain a Beta-test package of DPT software and drivers for
SmartRAID V controllers under Windows 2000.
The following sections describe procedures for installing DPT
SmartRAID V controllers under Windows 2000-Beta 3. Three installation
scenarios are described:
- Upgrading Windows NT to Windows 2000
- Windows 2000 on a New System
- Adding SmartRAID V to an Existing Windows 2000 System
NOTE: The DPT driver for Windows 2000 does not include a digital
signature. You may receive one or more warning messages about
this condition. Bypass the warnings and continue with the
installation. The driver will function normally when the
upgrade or install is complete.

Upgrading Windows NT to Windows 2000
NOTE: You only have a brief opportunity (five seconds) to press F6
during the install startup. A prompt will appear at the bottom
of the screen when the F6 key is active. If you do not press F6
at this time, you must restart the Windows 2000 install process
to complete this procedure correctly.
1. Start Windows NT 4.
2. Insert the Windows 2000 CD and run the SETUP.EXE program on the CD.
Setup will copy some files then reboot the system.
3. When the system is restarting, a blue screen will appear after the
hardware detection message. Press F6 to "Install a 3rd party
driver..." when prompted.
4. When prompted, insert the I2O driver diskette into the floppy disk
drive and select DPT (SCSI) I2O Adapters for Windows 2000 and
greater x86
Press Enter and follow the instructions displayed.
NOTE: The following steps apply to all DPT Millennium controllers or
to DPT Decade and Century controllers with an RA4050 module.
5. When Windows 2000 is loaded, open My Computer, then open the
Control Panel.
6. Open the System applet.
Go to the Hardware tab page and click on Device Manager.
Select "PCI Memory Controller" from the Other Devices section.
7. Select Action and then "Reinstall driver" (this starts an Upgrade
Wizard).
Click on Next, then select "Search for suitable driver for my
device" and click Next again.
8. Insert the I20 driver disk into the floppy disk drive.
Select the floppy disk and click Next.
The wizard should find "DPT I2O Memory Controller"
Click Next and follow the instructions to complete the
installation.

Windows 2000 on a New System
NOTE: You only have a brief opportunity (five seconds) to press F6

1. When the Windows 2000 installation starts, a blue screen will
appear after the hardware detection message. Press F6 to "Install a
3rd party driver..." when prompted.
2. When prompted, insert I2O driver disk into the drive and select
"DPT (SCSI) I2O Adapters for Windows 2000 and greater x86".
Press Enter and follow the instructions.
3. When Windows 2000 starts for the first time it will start a New
Hardware Wizard.
Click Next, then select "Search for suitable driver for my device"
and click Next again.
4. Insert the I20 driver disk into the floppy disk drive.
Select the floppy disk and click Next.
The wizard should find "DPT SCSI/RAID Adapter"
5. Click Next and follow the instructions to complete this part of the
installation.
Completing the installation requires that the system shutdown and
restart. When the restart is complete, continue with the following
steps to complete the installation.
NOTE: The following steps apply to all DPT Millennium controllers or
to DPT Decade and Century controllers with an RA4050 module.
6. When Windows 2000 is loaded open My Computer then open the Control
Panel.
Open the System applet and go to the Hardware tab page.
Click on Device Manager.
Select "PCI Memory Controller" from the Other Devices section.
7. Select Action-Reinstall driver, which starts an Upgrade Wizard.
Select Next then select Search for suitable driver for my device
then next again.
Insert I20 driver disk into the floppy disk drive.
Select floppy disk and click next again.
The wizard should find "DPT I2O Memory Controller".
Click Next and follow the instructions to complete the
installation.

Adding SmartRAID V to an Existing Windows 2000 System
1. Follow the instructions for installing the SmartRAID V controller
in your system.
2. When you start Windows 2000 the Found New Hardware Wizard will
report a "PCI Memory Controller".
Click Next and select "Search for a suitable driver for my device".
Click Next.
3. Insert I2O Driver Disk into the floppy disk drive.
Select floppy disk then click Next.
4. Click Next in the next two windows that appear.
5. Follow on screen instructions to complete this part of the
installation.
6. When the PCI Memory controller installation is complete, another Found
New Hardware Wizard will start for a "SCSI/RAID Controller".
Insert I2O Driver Disk into the floppy disk drive.
Select floppy disk then click Next.
7. Click Next in the next two windows that appear.
8. Follow on screen instructions to complete the SmartRAID V
installation.

Download Driver Pack
After your driver has been downloaded, follow these simple steps to install it.
Expand the archive file (if the download file is in zip or rar format).
If the expanded file has an .exe extension, double click it and follow the installation instructions.
Otherwise, open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
Find the device and model you want to update in the device list.
Double-click on it to open the Properties dialog box.
From the Properties dialog box, select the Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button, then follow the instructions.
Very important: You must reboot your system to ensure that any driver updates have taken effect.
